Here's Gio the moment that Laine thought he was taking the shot. Gio launches his stick out and would have tipped the puck up and over the net. Instead Monahan's stick lift actually gave Laine a chance to reset and take an unimpeded shot.

Bad luck all around, but Gio played it fine. He covered the pass and would have taken the shot away if not for some bad luck.

Yeah, the OT goal against was on a chance that was caused by a misunderstanding between Johnny and Monahan in the offensive zone - but both guys identified the screw up and hauled ass to make up for it, and came up just short.

That’s just hockey. They’ve won us enough games in OT that I trust that trio when they’re on the ice together.
