Tongs are the last of my worries at a buffet.
300 people caught Covid last week at a Calgary wedding that featured a buffet.

Seriously, one of the first things I thought we go the way of the dodo after all this was buffets.

Back on topic, fewer touches (and sanitizer right there where you do have to touch), fewer interactions with people, quicker service, may not even have to leave my seat, possibly apps that allow me to pre load money to use at the Dome? And no tongs? All good. All positive progress.

I'm not telling anyone they have to be happy with it, but it's here and it's not a Calgary thing.
Good point on the floats for tills.

Maybe they would be wise to at least set up one booth where the patron can put 50 bucks or whatever onto a reloadable card to use throughout the building?

I dunno...just seems ridiculous to me to refuse the very thing that makes business go round because its in its original form and not covered by a plastic card.

This is incorrect. There are many places you can pick a % and then tap.

Not saying this is definitely happening but maybe I'm underestimating the degenerate level of Oiler fans.

Source? Not trying to argue whether or not it happened, but I don't think you can necessarily attribute this to the buffet/tongs (especially if high touch areas are sanitized like all the covid protocols say they should).

Can you link me this article? It's not that I don't believe you. I just find that shocking and want to read about it.

Here's an odd thought - instead of opting entirely out of one, why not incentivize the other?
"Yes, we still accept cash (exact change only, please), but pay with your new Flames CC or with the Flames wallet app and earn points/chances to win!! (or use the app to buy 9 hot dogs, get a free popcorn)"

I have 2 concerns (and am not sure how founded/valid they are)
1 - I am concerned about the security of my money on an app. Identity theft, hackers, hidden fees. I carry my cards in one of those "scan proof" cases.

2- I am not so sure about the push towards a touch-less / sterile society. Mud is good. Soon we may not be immune to even the most common bug. The world has dirt and grime in it. We can't live in a bubble.

1. You don't have to put your money on an app, you can use your card.

2. There are still plenty of touchpoints for germs.

There is no article. I know about 2 dozen people who caught Covid at the wedding. 280 people have been confirmed cases from same wedding. 800 people wedding.

It's usually the first screen that comes up.

Hand sanitizer is tough on germs, though. It was already an issue before Covid. Not dissimilar to over-use of antibiotics.

For the record, the Flames changed their stance and are allowing tipping at the concessions stands. Apparently there was a concern that the workers at concessions might find other employment if tips were not part of their equation. Don't care the reason, but good on them making the change.
