UPD: Islanders add nine in Batch 7
It's been a summer of change for the New York Islanders.
Not usually active in the CPHL's UFA batches, the Islanders made aggressive moves this summer to create cap space and submitted a total of five bids in the first four batches of the off-season.
Five bids. Five wins. The Islanders have been successful in acquiring each of their UFA targets this summer, adding (among others) one of the top-rated goaltenders available and paying up for a top-pairing offensive defenceman.
Allow me to welcome five of the newest members of the New York Islanders.

Talbot and Stepan are good contracts.
Hutton is OK.
Nemeth is meh.
Krug is too expensive. I like Krug and was surprised at his rating...but ya that's not a great contract IMO.
At the end of the day it is a game and I love the aggressiveness and the graphics. I worry about next year for the Isles...but then again I worried about your next year last year, and you've figured it out.

Funny enough, the contract I'm most concerned about is Stepan. Kinda wish I'd gone for Zuccarello instead. But I think Stepan could be good in Carolina.
Not worried about Krug at all.

I've always liked Stepan. He has been consistent except for last year.

He's just at that age where guys tend to drop off and he's coming off a season-ending injury in Ottawa. Wasn't awesome in Arizona. We'll see, not sure what kind of role he'll play with the Canes.

The Krug contract, given the UFA grids, and the fact that he didn’t get a favorable rating, isn’t too far off what his actual value could have been. Given the contracts that were being signed in the off-season though, he probably could have been gotten for way cheaper.
Talbot is at a great price to balance that out though.

Well, make that six-for-seven. Missed out on DeKeyser by $700k per year.
Still, thrilled to land Foligno. Great two-way player.
