NBC has officially pulled out of the bidding for the NHL’s second TV package, according to U.S. and Canadian sources. Next season will now mark the first time since the '05-06 campaign that the network will not carry any NHL games. NBC would not comment on this story.
They mentioned on HNIC that Fox appears to be the front runner for the remaining rights after the ESPN deal.

Not official by any means but I’m hearing NHL’s new (secondary ����) broadcast partner is likely to be @tntdrama, which of course produces @NBAonTNT et al. @espn is NHL’s primary ���� broadcast partner.
Turner Sports picked up the remaining package of NHL media rights as part of a deal worth up to $225M per year. The agreement will push the NHL’s rights-fee haul to an average $625M per year when combined with ESPN’s package announced last month.
As part of the agreement, Turner Sports' networks will televise the NHL Winter Classic, the League's annual New Year's Day outdoor game, in all seven seasons of the deal. They will show all games in the Stanley Cup Final in 2023, 2025 and 2027, one conference final series each season and half of the first two rounds of the playoffs along with 72 regular-season games per season.
Bleacher Report, which is owned by Turner, will have rights to use NHL highlights on its digital platform.
The Stanley Cup Final will air on ABC in in 2022, 2024, 2026 and 2028 as part of the deal with the Walt Disney Co. and ESPN. They have the rights to air one conference final round per season, half of the first two rounds of the playoffs, 25 regular-season games on ABC or ESPN, and 75 additional national games that will stream on ESPN+ and Hulu.
They will also stream more than 1,000 out-of-market games each regular season on ESPN+, which will replace NHL.TV.
On HNIC, they also said that Apple is expected to be involved in carrying some games as well, although, they didn't have any additional details on that.

The NBA on TNT is great production. Good play-by-play teams, and the best pregame/halftime show cast in sports.
Interesting how NBA and NHL will mirror each other even more with similar schedules, and same broadcast partners. TNT would be getting championship finals in this case though.
Their NBA theme is hella dope too. Wonder how their NHL take would sound like.

I'm not going to miss NBC. I always found it hard to believe they wouldn't air the entire Cup Finals on their main network. It really felt like they didn't care.
