My son & I are watching this game. It’s a great rewind. We didn’t go to the game, but feel free to starting telling your stories.

I sat in the stands for this, my brain and legs are still too frozen to want to relive it.

Calgary was in a deep freeze that week.

The week started with highs in the -20s, but the long term forecast showed a steady climb that culminated in -1 for gameday before dropping back down. [insert Rick Mercer’s +1 weather network forecast video here].

The temperatures did climb and I think got to -4 on game day. -8 rings a bell for gametime.

Still could have been much much worse. I remember dressing warm enough except my extremities, which froze.

Thankfully the Flames offered lots to cheer about. This game probably salvaged Bourques legacy from becoming the most useless overpaid bum in Flames History.

I don't think Bourque would have had that legacy regardless of how he performed in the HC. The Flames got his best years and then managed to trade him for Cammalleri and Ramo. What's not to like?

Actually I do appreciate that rebuttal on Bourque. I went to investigate further.

I think what irked me about him was as soon as he signed his massive extension in 2010, he almost instantly became a softer player. +30 on his career when he signed for 6 years 33 million, and he would never be a plus player again, -81 the rest of the way. Just like Glencross, when you give your hardnosed players that kind of paycheque and security, they think they’re offensive superstars and stop doing the things that made them successful.

I forgot Sutter amended his error so quickly with that trade. Now I recall being at the Saddledome and reading about the Cammalleri deal mid period on Calgarypuck and yelling “we traded Bork!” excitedly to my section.

But alas. Enough tangent. Bourque was a beauty that game.

I sat in the stands for this game with my sister, we overdressed which worked out in our favor.

I remember getting hammered due to the fact we had to drink our beer fast enough so they wouldn't freeze. Once we got sick of the freezing cold beer, we switched to Amarula and Hot Chocolate...man that was tasty.

The game was fun and I wish I could have made the trip to Regina to catch the game and see that beautiful stadium.

i went to this game, it was cold.

Boggled my mind how i was wearing ski pants, boots, toque etc and i still saw laots of bros in the stands wearing loafers, light jackets, no mitts etc.

i went with a friend, and when we left we got separated, we had to reconnect again at Anderson station.

If they ever have another one, i think i would watch from the comfort of my home.

i took my son to watch the hitmen game the next day - it was cold that day as well

I was there and it was cold.

I had a blast prior to the game in the fanzone. Got to meet Theo who wouldn't sign anything for me because I was wearing a Canadians jersey (but he did sign stuff for my ex and still took a photo).

The beers froze before you could drink the second one. Especially in the endzone bleachers.

Oh yeah, has any one else continued to mention that it was cold? Either way it was a great one time experience that I will never do again

I was there. Tried to drink 2 beers per period, and it was so GD cold the second one kept freezing before I got to it.

That's all I remember.

It was definitely cold. I just found my seat cushion from the game in a storage tote in my garage a couple weeks ago. I then showed my boys (9, 5, and 4) highlights of the game on youtube. They thought it was pretty cool but asked "Why are they wearng those jerseys?"

McMahon stadium showed its age by how difficult it was to get to your seats. I'm glad the game started late as I was stuck in the crowd and was wigging out about mising the start due to the human traffic jam. we went way over to the outside and made it to our seats before the anthem.

Crazy we went from crowds like that to social distancing in a few weeks.

Olympic Bronze Medalist Rene Bourque's best game as a Flame.

Second greatest contribution as a Flames, just short of being the other side of the Cammellari trade.

Did not go to the actual game but did catch the Alumni game which was pretty cool. Seeing all of the old-school Flames back on the ice; it's too bad Montreal didn't really field much of a team in response (for some reason Gelinas suited up for them, presumably because they were lacking in numbers).

I sold my extra pair of gloves to a Habs fan for 6 beers.

I also still have the soft foam helmets they gave out, and still wear it on the lake sometimes.

Good times.

Not like he was going to need those hands to clap for anything.

That Iginla pass is still a top 5 pass I’ve ever seen. Crap ice. Cold as hell and in tight. And he managed to lift it just high enough to get it to Tanguay and avoid price. Unreal good.

When I was in Toronto for the World Juniors a couple of years ago, I got to go on a tour of the Doc Seaman Resource Centre, home of the HHOF's archive collection. The librarian there took us to see all of their interesting Flames stuff, and they had a bunch of stuff from this game including Bourque's helmet and gloves, and possibly one of the nets, if I recall correctly. So Bork's 2nd star performance (Kipper with the SO!) is technically in the Hall of Fame.
