Wes Gilbertson @WesGilbertson
Strange lines from #Flames at Tuesday's morning skate. I have a hunch a big fish is getting scratched tonight.

Leafs forward practice lines from yesterday:

Grabner-Kadri-Komarov
Winnik-Spaling-Leivo
Holland-Arcobello-Parenteau
Clune-Froese-Boyes

Bozak, Lupul & Matthias are all out after getting hurt in the Sens game from Saturday.

Wow that is a bad lineup. Michalek will actually improve that group.

If ever the waiver wire created it's own team...

Yikes, their only NHL pieces to build around are Komarov and Kadri on offence.

JVR is injured. He's one of the most important pieces going forward.

Probably see William Nylander next year for them as well.

Probably only Kadri. I doubt you see Komarov repeat his performance from this year. They have a few solid prospects like Nylander and Marner to add soon.

Who would that be? Lines looked pretty normal to me.

I guess Bouma on 4th line RW is kinda weird, but I wouldn't call him a "big fish".

Yeah but really that's no different than the Oilers having Hall, Eberle, and RNH surrounded by junk. You need a decent supporting cast as foundation. Stamkos and Babcock will have their work cut out for themselves.

Maybe he's talking about Monahan getting scratched and them going with Backlund and Granlund as top two centres? That would be a big fish. Hard to imagine that happening though.

I thought of that but it seems a little extreme given what we know.

On Leafs Lunch they referred to tonights line-up as the Toronto Marlies. I didn't realize how accurate that statement was until I saw their line-up.

If the Leafs finish above the Flames this season than Hartley really needs to be fired.. Compare the rosters and try to understand how the Flames have fewer points.

Well maybe but Gilbertson is going by the lines in practice though, which look pretty normal. Apparently Backlund wasn't there at all today, which is why Steinberg has Granlund filling in for him. No reason was given for Backlund's absence but we can assume, without any proof, that there was a video session he missed and is a raging alcoholic.

There is no trade the Flames could make to out-compete Toronto's roster for last place.
The real Marlies are absolutely destroying the AHL

If Monahan legitimately had a transgression, I have no problem scratching him. He's young and needs to learn the proper way.

If he pouts and whines, well then he's not the player we thought. If he responds, then we know he's as mature as we thought.

Monahan is late for one practice and is scratched. Wideman doesn't show up for a single game this season and gets to play in the top 4 and on the first PP.

Just Hartley Things.

Can't help but to be a bit nervous. Toronto icing AHL roster could be a recipe for the Flames to take their opponents lightly
