Gulutzen knew Eddie from when Torts was Vancouvers head coach. At that time he was considered to be a pretty good up and coming goalie. I don't know what's changed but I never expected Lack to be waiver fodder.

I don't know what we'll do for a backup but Treleving always seems to have a plan, even if it's not what we expect/want.

26year old who has "turned it around" in buffalo, on pace for 40 goals and 80 points aaaand Buffalo is looking to trade him instead of making him a foundation for their future...?

seems head scratching to me... more so because i've heard of zero contract offers or even attempts to try signing him by Buffalo.

Clearly Eddie is Lacking in confidence, so an extened stay in the AHL will help him rediscover his game. We might see him recalled later in the season if either Rittich or Gillies don't fair well.

Lack is terrible. It's insane how much he has forgotten how to play. Especially during what should be his prime years. I never believed he would be a top notch starting goalie, but while he was in Vancouver, he was trending towards becoming a serviceable starting goalie.

I frankly find Gillies to be a bit scrambly and his rebound control is not where it needs to be.

I think he's projecting to be better than Lack, but I don't have a huge amount of confidence in any Flames goalie not named Smith to be a consistent backup.

I would suspect largely due to off ice behaviour and attitude issues. And if he is performing well right now, its a great time to sell. Sell high!

I dont want him on the Flames though.

Awesome news, I think Rittich will be a solid backup. Happy he will finally get a chance. Even happier that Calgary is using internal players and not wasting assets on a chad Johnson type retread...

When spelled correctly in swedish, Eddie Läck, is eerily similar to the word "leak". Add an A for "läcka - a leak" or ER for "leaking - läcker".

Just a little trivia there.
