My little pal went to see his Gido for Easter and they stopped on the way home to drop him off with us, out where we were doing some volunteer work. He came for a sleepover because everyone has to work today and his dayhome is closed today.
I looked up from what I was doing, to see him carefully following Grandpa and copying what Grandpa was doing, down to trying to match his walk to Grandpa's. After I was done being a puddle, I snapped a picture with my cellphone. I think I'm going to have to get a 4x6 print of this for my husband, for his toolbox at work.

Fast forward to today, I've only missed 2.5 days of work, at a retail outlet through 4 months of chemo. I'm sure I posted this at least two or three times before between this and the cool videos, but this never gets old. If I close my eyes I can feel like I'm a kid again watching this while my mom makes lunch or dinner. Beautiful Canadiana

Just wrapping up a visit from Mrs Puppet's birth father and his wife. This is the first face to face meeting between the two (her birth mother was here in the fall) and all has gone swimmingly.

The boy called me the other day from the car. It was full of his buddies.
When we ended the call I said "I love you" as I always do.
He followed with "I love you too dad".
He is a good boy
Nice. I hope my kids do that one day. I've definitely noticed kids don't jeer that type of conversation as much as they did when we were young. Same way they don't jeer people who don't drink alcohol, coffee or use drugs.
I overheard someone's convo once because bluetooth through the car's speakers was loud and their windows were down. After the "Love you!" end to the phone convo, one of the young guys in the back said something like, "You say 'love you' to your parents after every phone call? Man, we don't talk like that at home."
A surprising conversation, but heartwarming too.

Heh, I had planned to post this even before DocFever mentioned it.
Sometimes, my odd nerdiness makes me happy. It means I buy useful (to me anyway) little gadgets. I got myself a Bissell Steamshot (thanks TikTok, LOL) and it makes me silly happy, how well it steams things clean. My lungs are damaged from an autoimmune reaction, and oven cleaners are something I can't use. I can't even be in the house when they're used. Consequently, my husband ends up cleaning the oven and it bugs me, because he has enough else on his plate without having to do the oven as well. This little Steamshot thing pretty much whipped all the baked-on crap off like nobody's business - a bit of elbow grease finished off the rest. I got it done, I didn't have to vacate the house to get the oven clean, and the hubster didn't have to touch it.
I also now have the cleanest window tracks in the whole neighborhood, I think. That steam gets in all the smallest nooks and crannies that I can't get into. I tried it on a tap out at camp, with that hard water buildup and same thing - gets it right off. I don't like cleaning, but I do like clean things and this helps me accomplish that far easier, and much quicker.
Yes, I am an odd nerd, and that nerdiness makes me happy, as does this gadget.

Nice Is it a true nerd thing or is it a cleaning satisfaction thing? Like a Marie Kondo, "Does this bring me joy?" type of mood?
I get a similar sense of satisfaction with an ultrasonic cleaner. When people come over, I'll clean their glasses with basically nothing but water. They almost always remark it's the cleanest their glasses have ever been. Certain jewelry goes in as well and then the precious stones sparkle brightly with less crud blocking light reflection. Gross but satisfying to see the oil cloud come out from the nooks and crannies.
I haven't used a steamer on my windows yet even though I have one. But I do have a wet vacuum I use on upholstery to get rid of the stuff the kids spill onto it? Again, satisfying to see it look like not a disgusting seat.
