I think so as well. Market seems pretty strong for him so I'd expect Treliving to take it right down to the wire

FLA still not done!

Chris Johnston @reporterchris
Hudler. Purcell. Kindl. And it sounds like the #FlaPanthers have more in the works beyond that.

Come on Russell, thought you would go for more than Hudler, late first rounder or a 2nd and a 3rd!

If Purcell gets a 3rd David Jones is worth a 3rd or 4th. Make it happen!

anybody think that the second is an asset to be used to acquire one of the younger players (drouin nichuskin) that are said to be available?
I mean russell, the florida second, and shinkaruk could be an appealing return for dallas or tampa. a top of the market rental, decent pick, and good prospect.

bennett-drouin or bennett-nichuskin on a second line would be a legit secondary threat next year.

I'd guess Purcell has a lot more value than Jones right now.

If you look at stats and stats alone:

Purcell: 11-21-32
Jones: 9 - 6 -15

Jones might get you a conditional 4th that becomes a 3rd at best.

That's what I'm hoping for.

Jones is a beast in the playoffs. Big bodied winger that plays how we all want him to play in the regular season but doesnt. Purcell is butter soft.

Never the less I take that fourth. Really I would take anything for him! Yet I do believe a playoff team would do better with Jones than Purcell. Jones gets better come playoff time.

You make some good points. I hope there is a GM or two that sees it that way as well. Maybe we do end up with a third for him?

I think there's a 50/50 chance Jones doesn't get dealt due to lack of interest. Starting to believe more likely that Colborne is dealt.

I can get on board with that too! Again Colborne is a player that raises his game come playoffs. He is soft as butter in the regular season but come playoffs he uses his body and is effective.

6 foot 5, guy can be a beast when determined. Not a lot of hockey IQ there but when he uses his size he is a beast to handle.

Jones and Colborne are nice adds to playoff teams. Wont cost a lot, but they will be tough customers to deal with.

hopefully Russell gets a 2nd and 3rd. Hamilton really made our prospect pool take a hit. This summer after we take 4 or 5 forwards and maybe a goalie in the first 100 selections it should look quite strong again.

We need some internal options for the top 6 down the line. We have Shinkaruk/Klimchuk/Poirer but that's about it. Theres a good chance none of them make it into that role even.

Only wrinkle... this is supposedly a pretty bad draft after the 1st round. I think it would be better if they could target prospects instead of picks for Russell.

Keep an eye on Khokalechev out of Boston. This is his last season of waiver protection and he has already asked for a trade due to lack of opportunity.

For those with a good memory he was part of the original Iggy deal to Bos.

Also-Malcolm Subban

Koko would be okay. Need more to it though. Just get the pieces necessary for a goalie or a goalie, it's all I can hope for now.

Predators are waiting for this Blue Jackets game to wrap up. Pending that, I believe Scott Hartnell is heading to Nashville.

Coming back to Nashville maybe.

David Pagnotta @TheFourthPeriod
On LA: Lombardi not closing any door. He's spoken with CGY about Russell, but didn't go anywhere. Could revisit. Could cycle back on Schultz

In an auction scenario, you want it to be clear that you are selling NOW to create urgency.

If the rest of the league are holding their best offers and see that Calgary is not necessarily waiting it out for the perfect deal that should create some urgency on the part of the rest of the league to place their bids while the auction is open.

Or the other GM's think we got fleeced and want to get some!
