Lucic Bruins rumour
One of the spitting chicklets founders has the old eye ball emoji up over a Lucic in a Bruins jersey on twitter today.
Not just some rando so thought it worth a post.
I'll take it down if this is in another topic. Didn't see it though.

I just don’t see a fit. The Bruins have cap issues. And what would Lucic at a $5 mil cap hit bring that they aren’t already getting from Frederic for $1 mil?

The last few pages of the trade rumor thread has been discussing this but definitely seems thread worthy (like I need to tell Bingo what is or isn’t thread worthy on his own site)

From the Trade Speculation and Rumours thread:

With McAvoy and Marchand looking like they're out to start the season, I don't think it's impossible.
Also it is Friday today. Check back at 9pm?

I certainly try to follow the norms myself!
But yeah Flames specific should always have an individual topic or at least a bump of the player's on going topic in my mind.

It would make sense if the Flames have a trade target lined up.
Lucic is easy to stomach for a team with the cap space given its one year for little real money.
Liked him here, but the nuclear deterrent didn't do much vs Edmonton in the POs so swapping that for added skill might not be the worst thing.
Maybe they turn him into Debrusk with an add from the Flames?

Marchand, McAvoy and Grzelcyk are all out till at least November so they do have some cap space if those guys go on LTIR.

Lucic has a list of 10 teams he can be traded to, Boston probably is on his list.

Posted this in the other thread but makes sense in my mind
If the Flames move the entire cap hit they will have over 7.5M in space so Kadri could happen?
To Arizona: Valimaki, Folgino
To Boston: Lucic (50% retained by Arizona)
To Calgary: 5th round pick (Boston)
Sign Kadri to a 4x7.5M deal
Yotes get to test drive Valimaki for free and likely can turn Folgino into a mid round pick at the deadline for eating 400k in salary and 2.625M in cap space (in addition to the space they take on). Boston sheds a bit of cap in this deal and keeps the 2011 rebuild alive. Flames open up space to sign the top free agent left on the market

Lucic + Hanifin for Taylor Hall. The Flames sign Kadri,
Huberdeau - Lindholm - Mangiapane
Hall - Kadri - Toffoli
Coleman - Backlund - Dube
Lewis - Ruzicka/Monahan - 4th liner
Weegar - Andersson
Kylington - Tanev
Zadarov - Mackey
Valimaki
Markstrom
Vladar

Giving up Hanifin for Hall makes me cringe.
Would rather flip him for a younger better player.

As I said in the other thread: Lucic for Hall, one-for-one.
For maximum E=NG LOLs.

I really don't think we can afford more than $6mm next year for Kadri unless we move something else out. Even then it's pretty tight.

What about Debrusk? Typically any player that requests a trade publicly ends up getting moved eventually even when they rescind.
Lucic (50%retained) +Valimaki for Debrusk

Would do it but less salary retained. 25%.
Edit: Flames would need to add.

Just adding Hall on his own would weaken our D... so weakening our D PLUS adding Hall is most likely not on Tree's radar.

Even better if we can figure out how to get EDM to pay 10% of Hall's contract.

Why would we trade Valimaki to simply get a 5th round pick back?
Lucic doesn’t have negative value, you just have to trade him to the right team - ie one that isn’t worried about the cap hit.
