Kyrou + Krug + 1st would have been a hell of a deal, and pretty much exactly what I was hoping for as a best case scenario / expectation.

And the actual deal is on a completely different level.

Huberdeau >>>> Kyrou (despite the age factor)
Weegar >> Krug
1st + Schwindt > 1st
(and arguably, the FLA 1st being 2025 has an outside chance of being much better)

And I thought everyone was pretty sure St. Louis was adamant about no Kyrou in the deal. They likely believed they were just paying for the year and would get him no matter what the next year, so it was probably not a great offer.

The other two mentioned were much better, not even close IMO. Huge returns of multiple cost controlled assets, some of whom turned out better than Hall. Hall's just a winger who got traded at a low, not sure what the expectation was? Maybe an 1st on top for that one good year Hall had after the trade?

The Hall trade is so famous it can be referenced without mentioning any player involved and people know what you’re talking about.

Friedman was careful to not refute Rutherford (said he already crossed swords with another reporter for debunking their rumour) saying something like the only thing wrong with Rutherford's rumour of Tarasenko/Scandella was they weren't part of package to Calgary, but rather offered out to anyone to allow for Tkachuk trade. But Friedman never heard what St Louis offered. Rutherford sounds wishy washy.......

According to St. Louis insider Jeremy Rutherford of The Athletic who spoke on the air of 101 ESPN, there was a significant offer made to the Flames for Tkachuk by the Blues, but Calgary refused.

It’s a significant package that was presented to the Flames, per Rutherford:

“(I) do hear things, like the Blues trying to put together a package of Jordan Kyrou, Torey Krug, and a first-round draft pick. Those types of packages to get a deal for Tkachuk…Was the deal accepted (by Calgary)? No, because the deal wasn’t made, but (I) hear things like that.”

15. Weegar is kind of an odd name, isn't it?
16. Yes, it is.
17. One might even say it's funny?
18. Stop right there.
19. I mean, have all the Weegar jokes been made already?
20. Multiple times.
21. What if I called him—
22. I said stop.
23. Or I could—
24. I'll shut you down all day if I have to. It's not like I'm going to run out of numbers.

Same, got the news when the details were already out so I enjoyed rapidly progressing through the 4 phases of Vince McMahon.

Huberdeau was the first name I saw, so I went full McMahon immediately.

I did the opposite of the Jim Benning meme

there are NOT two Huberdeau's!

I double checked the spelling and looked at the NHL scoring leaders

When I heard it was Florida I thought for sure it would be Lundell and a 1st.

Was absolutely blown away.

I was at an event and a friend texted me. Legitimately thought he was trolling me with another stupid and unrealistic trade proposal.

I got up in the morning and randomly checked CP on my phone.

Took a while until the words really reached my brain and all I could think of was "WTF" over and over again.

If someone on this board had suggested this trade I would have laughed in their face.

It's not like Treliving was holding all the cards here; in fact he was holding no cards.

He had a ticking time bomb in Tkachuk, who in fact held a lot of those cards based on whether he would sign or not.

It was one of the most amazing and stunning trades I have ever seen.

I've had several big Flames events go down while I was taking a nap. Waking up, seeing excited but confusing texts from many people such as "Wow!", "Huberdeau?!", "Wtf?!", etc. is especially confusing while half asleep still.

Checking CP immediately and getting blown away by the thread title instantly wakes you up though.

Happened this trade as well as the Lindholm/Hanifin trade.
