If people are going to use the "good guys with guns" argument based on the Indianapolis story, are they also willing to accept a general 3 good innocent random people to 1 dead shooter KDR ratio in all future encounters? Because that is a bad number for society still.

It's by necessity a reactive argument to a problem that needs to be dealt with proactively. To have a good guy kill a bad guy with a gun, it requires the bad guy to already be close to, or actively shooting at innocents. So essentially by making this argument at all, you are conceding that innocents deserve to die no matter the scenario because you like having guns.

Well, anecdotally my daughter's boyfriend grew up in Florida and moved to Canada during High School and hearing the stories he tells is wild.

When he was talking about his High School in Florida it sounded like a Prison.

Completely fenced off with barbed wire at the top, searches and metal detectors and then he moved to Calgary and it was just a vastly different experience.

"When do they search us?"

- They dont.

There's a spot at about 12:05 of the video where one of the first officers on the scene, clearly obese, gets down and starts attempting to crawl into a better position and just gives up after like 3 steps and gives a "f### it" look because he can't do it. Sad.

The police hit five bystanders? Reminds me of the shootout scene in Heat even Pacino and co just start firing at the bad guys through massive crowds of people.

In case anyone is curious as i just read it:

In 434 active shooter cases from 2000 to 2021, and armed bystander intervened in 22 of those incidents. 10 of which were security guard or off duty police. According to ALERRT data.

Evidence that even more guns are required to keep Murica safe!

If you put in place some form of intelligence test (not one that denies employment to people too smart) and fitness requirements for police you'd have like 6 officers left. Throw in a psych evaluation though and you'd have none left.

It feels like 434 active shooter cases is a bit light. Is that for Chicago?

His manifesto is pretty terrifying to read. He apparently wanted to do this in a school but just "couldn't wait" any longer so did it two weeks earlier than planned.

Yeah, I just got back from a week in Idaho a couple days ago. On the second last day I saw some trashy-looking assclown open carrying in a convenience store. Just had to shake my head...they're fataing hopeless down there.
