This was a match I had pegged to be a sure loss for Denis considering the way his year has gone. I did not see it, but it is encouraging to see him beat someone who's at the very least not going to beat themselves very often.

Yeah, I believe Andy tweeted out something to the effect that he could fix Jenson's serve in a weekend lol. 105 MPH is a good speed for a second serve, but that was Jenson's first serve speed today.

This is pretty disappointing to see Denis and Felix not showing up for the Davis Cup. The event has its flaws, but it's not like there is a whole lot going on in the schedule during this point.

On the men's side at the Odlum Brown VanOpen, Vasek won his match in straight sets and Alexis Galarneau advances 5-7 6-4 (ret) over #51 ranked Yoshihito Nishioka

Tough loss for Rebecca Marino last night in her hometown tourney, twice she broke serve when her opponent was serving for the match in the 3rd set and she was up 6-2 in the third set tie-break, but lost the tie-break 9-7. Some good news is that due to players withdrawing, she has been awarded direct entry into the US Open main draw.

Felix takes the opening set 6-3 over De Minaur. Serve working today for Felix and the rest of his game is following suit.
Edit: Really solid tennis from Felix today winning 6-3 6-2. Put that bad loss from Ruud in the rear view mirror.

Shapo looked great against Dimitrov but today has reverted back to his 2022 form of being terrible.

This match looked done and dusted with Shapo down 4-1 in set 2 and now Shapo is leading 5-4.
Edit: Denis breaks to take set 2 6-4. Talk about rising from off the mat to get back in the fight. Now, he could easily get bageled in set 3, but at least he didn't throw in the towel today.

Denis up an early break in set 3. His serving remains a question mark however.

Denis pulls it out winning 3-6 6-4 6-3. In my opinion, he didn't play all that great today and was greatly helped by Tommy Paul just completely losing the script. Also, I'm hearing a spectator fainted in set 2 which caused a delay of several minutes and that delay certainly seemed to cause a momentum shift in the match.

The upset of the day has to be NCAA champ Ben Shelton eliminating Casper Ruud 6-3 6-3
/Emma beating Vika 6-0 6-2 is a shocking result as well

Only 3 aces and 10 double faults and he still won the match.

Yeah, like I said above, I don't know if Denis won that match as much as Tommy Paul lost it (or greatly aided Shapo to the win).

He's going to have to have his match of the year to beat Medvedev. I would he happy if he could take a set off him.

Coric is giving Rafa all he can handle tonight.
Edit: Nadal takes set 2 which means we're going the distance.

Coric takes it 7-6 4-6 6-3 over Rafa. The guy from Croatia was in fine form and Rafa looked pretty rusty.
