What a bucket by Trent to win it!!!

That was a great game and they played well, especially with no Lowry, FVV, and Trent out for most of it.

Trent is a good player. Looks like a solid deal already. Still wish they found a way to bugger up this game.

Trent brings that reliable mid-range game, which is something the Raptors had in DeRozan and then Kawhi, but haven't had since he left.

Orlando is buying out Khem Birch, and it's being reported that he'll likely sign with Toronto upon clearing waivers. Good, tough hustle center and another Canadian. He probably doesn't move the needle much for the Raptors right now, but could be auditioning for a backup C for next year.

Bemby and FVV are suspended 1 game each for leaving the bench during the OG/Schroeder altercation, so by my count, the Raptors are at the league minimum 8 players tonight, 9 if newly-signed 10-day-contract Freddie Gillespie has joined the team.

That rule shouldn't be so black and white when all FVV did was help de-escalate things by grabbing one of his guys and removing him from the scrum.

I'm fine with it black and white. The more people in, the more the refs have to sort through and the more out of control it could be. It's like getting swarmed and just reacting.

As for the fight itself, what were both guys thinking? Anunoby reacted too aggressively, and the LA guy was holding him for way too long that it looked like he was trying to annoy him too. The silliness of it all.

Great effort in a loss despite only having 8 players tonight. Boucher with 38/19 - him and Siakam were excellent

Another undermanned game tonight, With VanVleet, Harris, Watson continuing to be out, Lowry doubtful, and Siakam resting on the first game of a back-to-back. Khem Birch is expected to join the team in New York tomorrow and to be available for that game.

If the Raptors were trying to still make the postseason, it would make more sense to play Siakam tonight and rest him tomorrow when Birch will be in the lineup, but resting Siakam against Cleveland looks a lot like a tank choice given that Cleveland is a team Toronto's jockying with in the tank standings.

Right now 538 is projecting Toronto to finish with 30 wins and 8th worst overall record, but with Cleveland, Washington, and Orlando all having much easier opponents the rest of the way, a bottom five finish isn't out of the question.

Haha if they were trying to tank it's not working so far. 87 points at halftime. Everything is going in for them right now.

I'm loving Trent Jr so far

The NBA season is weird because with the expanded playoffs you don't have to be very good to make the post-season. In a normal season the Raptors would be miles away from the playoffs but they're not.

Yeah, I honestly preferred the play-in format of the bubble, where teams needed to be within a certain number of games-back of the 8th-place team, in order to be play-in eligible. There's no reason to give a team that's more than 4 games back of 8th a play-in.

Regardless, really entertaining game by the Raptors last night. Can't complain about the style of basketball they're playing right now. Great to see Flynn and Trent Jr in particular playing well. I was also kinda impressed with Gillespie. Granted this was mostly garbage time against the Cavs, but he definitely didn't look like an undrafted, first-game in the league guy out there. Could be a guy they hold onto and try developing.

An interesting stat about the Raptors, they're currently on pace to be the worst (standings-wise) team to finish with a positive plus/minus in NBA history, by a wide margin. I think that speaks to the theory that they could do a relatively quick retooling and return to the upper levels of the league.

The Jamal Murray injury is hard to watch. Not good. I’ll leave everything at that.

Brutal. I really feel for Denver fans, I thought they had a real shot of coming out of the West this year or next. Also as a Canada basketball fan, I'm sad he won't be suiting up for us this summer. At least ACL rehab is far better now than it was a decade ago, eventually come back at full health.

You could tell the moment he fell and how he reacted - or at least, anyone who's done it can tell.

On the bright side, he didn't have to manage to make his way halfway down Whitehorn 2 on his butt in that condition.

LaMarcus was a very good power forward for a long time. Is he HOF material?

He's got very similar career numbers to Bosh, minus the rings. Might not be on the first ballot, but eventually I'd guess.
