Tough loss for Frances Tiafoe yesterday as he was the defending champ at Delray Beach, that's 230 ranking points lost for going out in his opening round match.

Denis is down a set early to Kukushkin on the back of some pretty poor return of serve so far. He needs to muster some late match heroics to turn this around in a hurry. This is certainly not a match he should be losing on his best surface and would really squander a very weak draw.

Well that's a disappointing loss for Denis to say the least.
He is certainly having a hard time getting over the hump this year with losses to several very beatable players, and no wins over anyone inside the top 30 (granted Berdych was certainly playing at that level despite his ranking).
It's only going to get tougher now with the two 1000 level events up next on his schedule. Maybe a down week of practice is just what the doctor ordered leading up to the big events.

Looking ahead (and Felix has a tough match against Garin today), but he has a good chance to make a deep run in Rio. Schwartzman retiring against Cuevas (down 1-6 1-4 when he retired) means the top 4 seeds are all gone from the tourney. A run to the quarter-finals or even semi-finals is not out of the question for Felix.

This is part of the frustration with younger guys you'd like to see do well. "Phew... managed to get that set. Now I can relax for a bit". Er, no, no you can't.
