I wasn't going to mention Tipp's because many people say they are pretty awful but I like the wings there. Tipp's and Jamesons were our go to places for wing night and I always preferred Tipp's.

Mugshotz has the best wings, but my god everything else about that place sucks. Beer sucks, decor sucks, service typically sucks.

But the wings are so good, I continually go back.

We've had the Chicken Wings from WOW Chicken a few times and they are great. Pretty thick coating but man they are cooked perfectly and are so tasty.

At home we bake in the convection oven at 425. they get nice and crispy in no time. We then put them in shaker boxes with whatever sauce or seasoning we feel like. Stopped deep frying years ago.

They're like mini KFC pieces. I can eat a few of those, but 10 would probably kill me.

Best wing places in the city are Swigs in Cedarbrae and The Black Swan on Macleod.
I've eaten all over the place and those are the tops IMO!

We buy the big box of plain frozen wings from Costco and take out enough for the air fryer. We read you can so them from frozen, but it seemed to create more mess than when we thawed them first. Then take then out and shake with seasoning or bbq sauce.

Tried it in our convection toaster oven, but the result wasn’t at good as the air fryer. Skin didn’t crisp up very much.

I also miss the price. I remember in the 90’s when 15 cent wings were the wing night norm. Sigh.

Oh wow, forgot to mention this. Sysco supplies wings and other foods to all the major restaurants and a lot of bars. During Covid they are actually selling to the public for pick up or delivery (depending on if you fall in their delivery zone).

Really great deals right now. Everything is bulk. right now if you spend $100 you get 90 wings for free with order, or you can just get 20% off first order if you'd like.

Does anyone know if the Pinty’s Buffalo wings with Frank’s still exist? You used to be able to get them at Costco. They still carry other Pinty’s flavours, but those were my fave store-bought option. I see some Pinty’s options at Co-op, but they aren’t the same. I just make my own now in the oven, and am intrigued by all this air fryer talk.

Lots of really cool stuff in there. Burgers, chicken strips, wings, weiners, smokies. If you have a freezer you can stock up for the whole summer at a great deal.

Regal Beagle on MacLeod has the best wings in the city. Great selection and they're always consistent. Been eating wings there for 15 years, and they do wing specials 4 or 5 times a week.

Chicken wings for $3.80/lb (8.37/kg)

A bunch of other great deals too. If I wasn't moving in a few weeks, I'd fill my freezer to prepare for the near-constant BBQs I hope to have this summer.

I've got one of those older/original airfryers, the T-Fal one, that I have listed on Kijiji for $30. I think it would only be good for wings and frozen stuff like fries.

If anyone wants it, I'd give it away for a cheap (not sugary/headache inducing) bottle of wine or something.

Oh yeah, it's a wicked deal to be able to buy all these restaurant bulk deals (and they have current sales on top of it already being bulk deals) to stock up right now.

I'm grabbing the breaded wings (70-100 pieces, 2kg) on sale for $56 for sure.

https://calgary.syscoathome.com/products/181-4112274

But anyone that has kids to constantly feed should definitely grab the Dr. Oetker 5" deep dish pizzas. 30 pack on sale for $46.99 ($1.57 per pizza). Those things are really tasty snacks for adults and great ways to keep kids fed during the day.

It's not the deep frying vs baking, it's the fat in the skin and the Buffalo sauce which is about 50% fat (butter at the Anchor Bar, margarine at Ed's back in the day). If you want healthier chicken wings deep-fried salt-and-pepper wings will have fewer calories than baked Buffalo wings.
