Was thinking of subscribing already due to the talent that they've hired to cover NCAA. This guarantees that I will subscribe.

We already know what the stats are (or we can get them at will). What I don't want is another article telling me this player is great, or that player sucks, based on those stats.
Monahan's possession numbers were only 45% last night? So what? Tell what he did with it when he had the puck. Tell me something interesting that you saw during the game. Don't tell me Hamilton's corsi was 52% and Smith's save percentage was .912. That tells me nothing of value.

I agree somewhat, but am really looking forward to giving it a chance.
I think we just see a lot of lazy stat reporting. Letting numbers influence your analysis gets boring. But letting the numbers support good analysis sounds really interesting.

As far as modern writers go, I'd hope it'd be "Mike Fail" or whatever his real name is. This is the kind of detailed article we need more of.

I think I read that torontos subscription base was so much higher than everywhere else that it accelerated the Canada expansion, hockey media compared to the other big sports is very underrepresented so it made sense
It's not just fancy stats either, the hockey stuff, especially Bourne and dellow is really interesting, especially dellow. It's not just Corsi, he has some articles looking at power plays a few months ago that were great and I believe he said he will be national focused going forward not Toronto only
I subscribed when it was Toronto just because the free articles were interesting enough and as it expands its working out even better, as a raider fan the Bay area was lucky and they hired the writers I followed for them anyway
Plus a pacific nw of Seattle/Vancouver always made sense as the next expansion
Excited to see it's all Canada markets

Waiting on Bennett, then Jagr signings first? Depending on what does or doesn't happen - they can then move on Chiasson.

Because there is no need for a mediocre bottom 6 forward.

I had to click on an article to get a link after the free paragraph they show before locking it. I don't know if it's still going today.

Subscribed earlier this week. Some quality articles so far. Looks like they have plans to add Philadelphia in September, so I'm hoping the Canadian cities are coming soon as well.
Also if you're a baseball fan they added Ken Rosenthal to the staff.

The Globe and Mail announced today that they're cutting their sports section to weekends only. No job losses yet announced, but perhaps he sees the writing (pun intended) on the wall.

I finally broke and bought the subscription for $50 a year.
As a hockey fan it is totally worth it. I find myself reading a lot of the articles about the other NHL teams they cover as well as the Leafs.

It's going to be fantastic when the other Canadian cities get added. Tons of in-depth analysis for other teams. It should really expand the readers knowledge outside their favorite team.
