CSEC Will Not Move The Flames
Regarding the Arena discussions I see a lot of fellow Flames fans say that what if CSEC is serious about relocation, what if they see no other way?
There is zero percent chance that the Flames leave Calgary; the NHL is already having problems supporting its 31 teams, some of which don't have the required revenue to be sustainable. Canadian teams on the other hand, in major cities, are a sure bet.
You can build amazing arenas, you can build cup winning teams but you can't build revenue.
*
edit: This maybe an opinion but its a fundamental fact, there is no financial model that would endorse relocating the flames.

Maybe worth a post in the other arena threads - definitely not worth a new thread.

Its an opinion, which is based on facts.
There are no possible economic scenarios that, currently, exist which would endorse the Flames leaving Calgary. The primary purpose of the Flames is to generate income for ownership - the key to a positive bottom line is revenue and Calgary generates revenue.

I'm curious how this will effect our free agent attraction. Does the uncertainty of the new arena shy some players away?

Yeah I thought that there was an article or something where CSEC actually said "we will not move the flames". That would be good for a new thread. Instead this just got my hopes up

I doubt they would move, but it is still only opinion which is not entirely based on fact. Are you sure the primary purpose is to generate income? How about generating wealth, ie. value of the franchise. Are you sure Toronto 2 (or Seattle for that matter) wouldn't generate more revenue/wealth?

O.K. there has been a lot of talk on whether or not MacTavish has actually done a good job for us, most fans on this board are very basic in their analysis and I feel would change their opinion entirely if the team was successful.
