Default Request: Politics Subforum

I was wondering if it would be possible to have a politics sub-forum. I find that with the absolutely massive threads there is a lot of information, debate and in general convolution that happens. I know that there are subforums for a few other things and I think that this could help organize everything a little bit better.

Thanks.

I echo this sentiment, it would make the OT forum easier to navigate

Those 5 threads are tough to get around?

I agree that it'd be nice to have more threads vs a few mega threads, but I hardly see how political discussion is clogging up navigation.

Yeah, navigation of the off topic board isn't an issue, but the massive threads make it a bit daunting to actually have a conversation or follow a topic as it gets lost in a sea of topics in a thread.

Massive threads aren't a policy, they usually happen when the individual sub-topics aren't enough to justify a thread by itself, and I don't think that changes if there's a subforum or not (see the tech forum and the video game thread). But it doesn't have to be that way, people can create a separate thread if they want.

Usually we split off a subforum when it's painfully obvious that a topic is dominating the off topic forum with threads, so people could create more threads about political topics rather than having them mushed into a larger thread.
