Default Update: Rieder signs 1 year, $700k, 2-way deal

Bold prediction: Reider and Lucic both score first game of the season. Oil nation loses their minds.

How about Talbot too into an empty Avs net for the trifecta?

James Neal own goal. A deflection off Kris Russell's butt.

After a consulting on strategy with Gulutzan.

Saturday, December 27@ Edmonton:
Reider (13) from Lucic and Talbot

GWG that puts the Oilers in the bottom of the WC as the calender turns to the next decade, destined for another playoff miss. Reider gets his imfamous 13th goal, that was banked on to all but to secure the Oilers playoff hopes last year.

Added depth at the minimum can never hurt.

Literally the only reason I would want Rinaldo in Stockton is so he's not on another AHL team injuring Stockton players.

I think it makes a lot of sense to do so because it would allow himself to build some confidence.

Color me stunned that he took a 2 way deal. Guessing BT told him that he would start the year in Calgary and it was up to him whether he stays the year or gets sent down.

"Toby Rieder was signed by the Calgary Flames at the beginning of this year," Nicholson said. "Toby was a player that other teams wanted. He went there for one year because he wanted to play with Milan Lucic, who he played with on the Edmonton Oilers. Toby Rieder scored 15 goals. Toby Rieder has so many breakaways. If Toby Rieder wouldn’t have scored 15 goals, we'd probably be in the playoffs."

“I can’t update anything regarding the status of what’s in the water.” says Nicholson

Peters like his vets, and besides the mulligan that can easily be afforded most players who naively get caught up in the Oilers sales job, he was a decent player for many years before last. He will push some of those guys like Maginpane, Dube, Jankowski to be at the top of their game or else.

I’m actually quite convinced this is next level trolling by the Flames.

Pick up Oiler castaways, reclaim and repurpose them, upsell them elsewhere, profit.

It’s genius.

Lack of surprise here with this signing. Peter's obviously wanted him. Tree kept him.

Hes got speed and another add to a pretty dynamic PK . Actually, pretty much replaces Hathaway's niche he made for himself last year.

Love it. Had the contract space and at worst it's a fantastic body for Stockton

Pat Steinberg @Fan960Steinberg
Can confirm Calgary and Tobias Rieder have agreed in principle to a one-year, two-way contract. Not sure if it has been filed with the league. First reported by @MatiszJohn.
