Kane on the Rangers is absolutely insane.

If the going rate for $2M cap from a 3rd team is a 4th what could the Flames get for just Toffolli if they convinced 2 teams to retain salary?

Toffoli to a contender for 1 1st and 2 2nds

Flames retain 50%

2nd team retains 50%

3rd team retains 50%

Team that lands Toffolli gets him for a cap hit of $1.05M

Even if teams like Arizona or Anaheim wanted a 3rd for retaining next year it would be a huge win for the Flames to get 2 teams in on it.

Your not getting a 5th for any of those guys. Ritchie is waiver wire material. I don’t see lucic waiving unless it’s a serious contender. Do any serious contenders even want lucic?

I hope the stinking Rangers understand how lucky they are that players value them as a destination.

It has done 50% of the work for them in building their team

Probably not a difficult place to GM

Way more expensive for another team to retain real cash and cap next season and I’m pretty a contract can only be retained on twice. Teams also have limited retention slots

Rangers or Bruins winning a cup doesn't hurt my feelings. It means nobody else in Canada did.

I think you could get a pick for Lewis. Other 2 no but even 1 guy gone opens up a spot for an AHL player.

Bah, who needs late picks. It's not like you ever find good prospects there like Dustin Wolf or Johnny Gaudreau. /s

This team is great at finding talent, it might be their super power. That's why trading away picks is so stupid. This year they could get some picks back and infuse a youth movement into the team for the balance of the season - guys that come from a great winning environment! Wranglers exist to serve the Flames, and I'd rather have kids here than chasing a Calder.

It's maddening how this team is run!

Hot take: I think we'd have a better chance of making the play offs this season by moving some of these older players and UFAs and letting youth take those spots.

Historically they’ve overpaid too so it’s kind of weird.

Carolina is better than the Rags. There's 3-4 other teams in the East that might be as well. Don't think adding Kane is going to make a big difference. But also wow the East is very strong, stronger than at any point I can remember.

Definitely, and much preferably Boston. The Rangers would be about seventh down on my list of no cups for them please.

I don’t know why anyone would want Boston to win it either. Remember, they thought it was a good idea to try to sign Mitchell Miller under the radar? He’s the ######bag who bullied a disabled classmate for years…

Would be nice if the Flames got into this business.

They can't. The flames are too focused on all that playoff success they have each year. Tre still has to move draft capital for depth D don't forget.

If the Flames don't want to add players they should be doing what Minnesota is doing and picking up free draft picks to retain salary.

Which should in my opinion indicate they still want to make a move.
