Man, if I'm NJ my counter is solely Mercer then. Cost controlled (25a/25p) 21 yr old, vs an unaffordable QO/ playoff rental.

Those prices are steep. If I'm jersey I look elsewhere. You may get a chance to sign him next year as a FA.
Mercer and Holtz can be great cost controlled core pieces.

SJ hangs up. Meier won't end up a rental.

How can you speak so definitively, with a $10m QO?

He has shown zero ability this year to backstop this team to a playoff run, he can hardly keep his job.
Binnington 24-5-1 with a 1.85 GAA and .927 save %
Quick 1.95 GAA and .928 save % and cup #2 2.07 GAA and .915 save %
Markstrom numbers aren't even close to any of these numbers.

I remember Driedger being an absolute beast in Florida. I would take a flyer on him if the Flames had any cap room.

It's funny how slim the margin is
They've been simply on the unlucky end of a lot of OT losses too
3-4 of those could've easily gone the other way if it weren't for errant sticks and other BS
Over time the lack of JUST luck (forget goaltending) including league leading post hits has culminated in 5-10 points siphoned off their current record

Servalli has added Joel Farabee to his trade board list. Citing that he is unhappy playing under Torts.
Man if his contract wasn't so huge (5 more years @ $5 mil), he would have been a good target for the Flames. Fast winger that could play in the top 6.

If SJ wants max return then I am pretty sure it will basically be a sign and trade

Because even if he doesn't sign for less ala Tkachuk the Devils would still qualify him and then work out a better long term deal. We have seen from past deals that huge QO don't inhibit teams from getting better long term deals done. It will either be a sign and trade or the player and the team will work out a long term deal.

Now that would be someone I would try and find a way to trade for.

I would pass on him simply because of his name.
There will never be a star NHL player with the name Farabee.

Farabee would be awesome, and $5m is a reasonable cap hit for him going forward, albeit hard for the Flames to take on. He’s a lot like Bennett-fast, tough, and plays with a chip on his shoulder. Like Bennett, he could use a change of scenery. I really like this player. I think he’s been derailed by injuries a bit, too.

Only way I see that working with cap numbers would be a swap for Mangiapane

Don't trade Hathaway to the Oilers. Don't make me hate him.

Or Coleman but I doubt he fits what the Flyers are looking for.
