According to Sportsnet’s Mark Spector, he believes the Edmonton Oilers and Chicago Blackhawks have the pieces worked out and a trade in the chamber that would see the Oilers land Patrick Kane in a blockbuster deal:
"My sources tell me the Blackhawks would retain half of Kane’s $10.5 million salary, take Warren Foegele and Jesse Puljujarvi to make the money work, and require a first-round pick and a prospect — not Holloway or Broberg — in return

It's from Spector, that's a HUGE grain of salt. Just look at what Oilers giving up garbage for Kane at half price? Also, doesn't Kane has a full NMC?

Look up @wallmaz35. Says it’s a 1st and Stankoven for Kane.

key words "in the works"
which probably means Holland left an unintelligible, slurred drunken voicemail with the chicago office and now is sitting and twiddling his thumbs in the dark

Kane is playing tonight. Unlikely a trade is imminent

So the Oilers are getting the Hawks to retain 50%, take two cap dumps and get a 1st rd pick - B level prospects. Hell of a deal for the Oilers if true.
The Flames could give them a 1st, Lucic and Schwindt too.

Zero chance imo Kane waives to go to Edmonton, doesn't matter what pieces they have. Just wishful thinking on fanboy Spector there.

Spector is eager to be wrong about more things this season
Give him an inch, he takes a mile
Big old nothing burger by fanboy fanboyerson. Oilers aren't locking down top line talents from $1M USD in the hole - they have to shed significant money and no one is taking their depth garbage, because the depth after their 5 or 6 players is ECHL bad. They're so full of themselves that they think teams will line up to do them favours AND send their top trade chips
JP is only being shed via the waiver wire or if they staple a 2nd rounder to him

Not because the Oilers didn't offer, but because Chicago laughed and hung up.

They never want to give up to get, because they negotiate IRL like HF fans and that's why they end up with the C tier trade targets
Athanasiou cost them two 2nds and they didn't need to shed anything
What will patty Kane cost, adding in the fact that the hawks need to retain and/or stomach one or two of edmonton's unwanted players. Yeah, good luck with that
The 1st is in the bottom third too, so not like it's particularly valuable

This is obviously a huge grain of salt...but if this happens we are seriously the ugliest "Good Luck Chuck" team ever...
Favored to beat Chicago in the 1st round as they kicked off their decade long power house.
Favored to beat Colorado the playoffs that Makar graduates and kicked off their powerhouse run.
Favored to beat Dallas the playoffs where Oetinger became a star enroute to....
Even better...all three of those teams are in the central...so you can't even blame it on coincidence of being in a strong division like Toronto...

Why not? If SJ retains and price is low. He can score goals, one of Mangiapane's best friends and had chemistry with Mangi and Rasmus back in Barrie.
He's like a younger Toffoli.

Problem is this team isn't a Kevin Lebanc away from being a contender. Why give assets for another middle 6 guy.

I'm thinking Lebanc is very vanilla.

Labanc is a playmaker and doesn't play like Toffoli.
Ideally speaking we need more finishers that can play top 6. Leblanc isn't bad but I would prefer someone a bit better to be honest.

We have a Labanc type, his name is Dillon Dube, he's 3 years younger and doesn't make $4.75m.
Easy no.

Any truth to the rumours Jesse Puljujärvi might hit waivers? Would he be worth a shot?
