Almost our entire team is down in production from last year, and half this forum expects Huberdeau to be continuing his 115+ point pace playing for a defensively minded Coach who runs a completely different system then that of Burnette's Panthers who were the highest scoring team last year?
2022 Flames - 6th in Scoring with 291 goals
2023 Flames - 18th in Scoring with 160 goals
Johnny gone - 115 pts
Tkachuk gone - 104 pts
Kadri - down significantly
Mangiapane down significantly - only 28pts so far
Lindholm down - ppg last season
Hanifin down
The guy didn't forget how to play hockey, but its very evident that his play style doesn't fit the Sutter mold in terms of production which is why we see a significant amount of overpassing to teammates who rarely appear to be ready to accept said passes. He's nevery been a line driving "star" and has always relied on his wingers to do the dirty work allowing him room/space to get his elite passes off.
Here's a great article back Jack Han (Maple Leafs hockey Analyst for 2 years & ex-Marlies assistant coach) so not just some "bumb blogger"

Again, his primary line mates last season were Bennett (fired into the Sun by Flames Fan's on this very forum for being awful) and Duclair who was sort of resurrected last season and had a career year.
I think some of us knew it was going to be a huge change coming into this year, and while I think he could clearly be doing better I don't think its fair to be claiming we need to trade/buy him out.
Let's perhaps give it more than half a season before we write the guy off.
