That's not a hot take. That's a sensible take.

Saying Lucic, Lewis, and Ritchie all get traded to try and "Boudreau" Darryl Sutter so the Flames can tank would be more Hot Take Material.

Jarnkrok was a waste of a trade
Don’t do it again

Lol you’re honestly right. I guess I felt like it was a hot take because I keep seeing other Flames fans on social media coming up with proposals for Meier or Tarasenko or Bertuzzi and such. I’d rather they just not trade any assets for rentals, ride it out and figure things out in the Summer

I think the Flames do something at the deadline even if it is the 2023 equivalent of trading for Freddie Modin like Feaster did in 2011. I think they will add at least 1 piece up front that costs anywhere from a 2nd-7th round pick.

Which is why I think at the very least we will see Nick Ritchie as a Flame.
They have been rumored to be interested in him for a long time.
He should be low on acquisition lists for contending teams and thus cheap to acquire
Will basically give him a tryout for the rest of the season.

Flames just love acquiring brother combos.

I agree unless we could somehow trade Huberdeau

Did he play with Huberdeau during his Florida days?

Last I can recall the Flames being linked to Nick Ritchie is when Burke was still part of the picture and some thought the Flames might draft Ritchie ahead of Bennett because ‘Burke loves big guys’.

Ritchie has been destined to be a Flame since his draft year

Taking a while to get to 5000
|
If we're looking at the Habs, and players who have played with / had success with Huberdeau its Mike Hoffman. But I don't see him as a fit with Sutter but who knows.

I have liked Ritchie since his draft year, he’s huge, physical, and one of the toughest in the league. The bad part is that he’s also one of the most inconsistent in the league- he constantly needs his ass kicked to get going. He’s also not the most fleet of foot.

Personally, I'd like us to acquire Nathan McKinnon. I think he'd be a good chap to have on this club, seems to be good at hockey. Perhaps we can come up with a package outside of Kadri / Huberdeau / Lindholm / Mangiapane / Toffoli / Dube / Andersson / Hanafin / Weegar / Tanev / Coronato / Zary / Pelletier / Wolf / our 2023 first rounder. We may have to get creative, but I think we can do it; just gotta roll up our sleeves and work smart.
