What about Gurianov? Seems to be buried in Dallas, but showed some excellent potential as a speedy goal scoring winger previously. Atheltic just listed him as a player out of favor with current club likely to be moved on. That's an interesting target IMO.
We can't trade our 1st this year. for one, theres a non zero chance that it's a lottery pick for a generational player. But further, as mentioned multiple times in this thread, even the mid 1st round this year has some exceptional potential.
I'm personally fine trading Coronato, but the 23 1st is absolutely not for sale.

For many reasons stated above it would be a bad trade for the Flames to make.

That's a worse trade for Philly. If they decide to trade for futures, taking on a slightly older complementary player makes little sense. They'd be better off turning Konecny into a first-round pick and younger prospects without taking on an overpaid forward. The cap space they save could also come in handy in recouping more picks.

Mangiapane is getting really underrated around here right now

He was underrated last season. Then underrated again when people started complaining in response to his new contract.
For a fan base that is pretty critical of Sutter for not liking shorter players, a lot of us sure don’t like shorter players.

Yup, very good player. Just isn’t finding the net. It’ll come though.

Gurianov would be ideal. Huge, good skater, RW, cranks it up in the playoffs, can play a power game. I'm a little concerned with how his numbers have tanked the last few years though. Perhaps some added ice time and responsibility under a hard coach would spark him?

Agreed. He is also playing harder minutes now. Last year was a perfect storm with the first line being so god damn good. No Joke. Lindholm, Tkachuk, and Gaudreau were dominate. This is a different year and he's in a position tougher than ever. He's depended on. This team struggles with confidence. Its crazy because you think someone would step up but then you look at the big picture.

They had a Gurianov a few years ago.

Season is more than half over and he has 19 points and a -4
He needs to pick it up big time

Missed training camp, and struggled in the first half like plenty of other players - but he has stepped it up in recent games. The puck didn’t start going in right away, but you can see it’s beginning to go his way.
He has 4 points in his last 5 games, and 5 points in his last 8 games.

Plus 2 crossbars tonight (or was it a post and a crossbar?)
Yes, he struggled in the first half of the season. But, as you say, he is playing better lately. Can't we just focus on that?

When you hi-light a players hot spell as 5 points in 8 games, you know that player’s production has been suffering.
He has 1 goal in his last 13 games. How does that translate into the puck starting to go his way?

Not seeing improvement. A little more opportunistic, but not much change in his game to where you think he's coming around. Still struggling with the puck, still not finding his teammates, and still not finding the net. I think its a confidence thing and he could use a break to reset. Let him watch a lot of film from the start of last season and see if he can get untracked.

Erik Karlsson is having his tires kicked.
I’d certainly consider it with the right retention, and I do think he makes this group better now and throughout the Huberdeau/Kadri window.

I don’t think there’s enough retention realistically available on Karlsson that would make me want him

Taking a while to get to 5000
|
Cap not going up by more than $1M next year, Flames have no space, San Jose very unlikely to retain half unless for a ransom, 3rd team needed, plus Karlsson is not likely to keep up his current play for 4 more years.
Also he controls his own destiny.
I honestly don't think he moves.

Is there a top-6 winger who’d improve their fortunes more than the 7th leading scorer in the league?

NHL.com has him at 3 crossbars and 4 posts on the season so far.
Toff 1 ups him with 4 and 5.
By the way.
NHL record since it is being tracked in 2009/10 is 6 crossbars held by Benn, Seguin and Saad in one season.
Ovi's hit the iron 125 times since they keep track of this stat and Benn the master of the crossbar with 21.
