Meghan Grant and Elise von Scheel wouldn't risk their careers to report this without being able to show receipts.
I don't think there's any way for Danielle Smith to get out of this. There's also no way a Crown Prosecutor would risk their careers by failing to report a personal email.
There's a leak here somewhere, and I'm guessing one person in Danielle Smith's office leaked the fact that one of their colleagues emailed a Crown Prosecutor.....which makes me wonder how they saw that email or felt confident enough to report it as fact. They just wouldn't do it without proof.

I've been slowly building my UCP "own-goal" bicycle spoke meme veritable wall for the last few years...I think it contains something like 100 memes at this point. Gonna drop that bad boy before the election

No one uses anything but government email addresses. No siree, never, not at all.
Or phone calls either. Well ok, no one phones anymore. But still....after all the confusing "I talk to them oh no only the guy in charge ok well maybe no yes well not sure ok just my staff what I don't know what you are talking about!", I have a hard time believing anything that comes out of this...

Yes, you think they would have stretched it out a bit longer so that it appeared thorough, but oh well.

Already? They took a whole weekend!
No way the CBC would have allowed the story to be published without multiple sources and/or confirmation...don't think we're done here.
Elise von Scheel seems to have pretty good sources in the Premier's office going back to Kenney too.

Lol government people working over the weekend? I have my doubts. Very strong doubts.
More like UCP staffers working all weekend.
Even so I am interested in more info coming out from CBC. I don't think they'd charge into this level of accusation without some very strong sources. Those will now be tested.

ToTaL eXoNeRaTiOn!!!!!
So the rumour was that the communication went through a personal email address. And the investigation comprising like 3 business hours looked exclusively at the official email system.
How dumb do they think we are?
Oh right...'Berta

So how do you search 1 million emails in 36hrs?
You probably look for key words like the cases, Coutts, pandemic and narrow the two/froms to the relevant people but I think given the sheet number of emails and that no one’s putting in obstruction of Justice in the subject line the 36hr search was designed to say we did one rather than to actually uncover anything.
Will be interesting to see the sourcing.

Presumably you have a list of staffer email addresses, and you have a list of crown prosecutor email addresses. Then you see if any mail went between the 2. It'd probably be pretty quick. But not thorough, given the admission that personal email addresses were used.

That’s not really what you are looking for though. That allows you to look to see if you have any morons working for you. Which is what Smith is trying to do.
What you’d really want to do is look for discussion around talking to prosecutors which is now needing to look at content.

Amazing, they managed to review over a million emails in a weekend. I go away on vacation and it takes me a week to catch up on my 700 emails, and they did a million in two days.
