I’m basically convinced that Danielle Smith is a liberal. Before you quote me and take a run, hear me out:
- she’s already taken down two conservative parties in the province and is well on her way to the third. It’s impressive, and could only be the work of a collaborator.
- she’s giving her opponent the tag of being Peter Lougheed, which is basically a concession to the centre-right votes.
- the main battleground is going to be Calgary, and she’s effectively thrown away Calgary Elbow in the next campaign, knowing full well what she was doing.
Next thing you know she’ll be glossing Notley as Ralph Klein 2.0 and that’s the end of the UCP.

I think you are correct, but not in the way you think.
She typifies the kind of liberalism that underpins our current society and is the most damaging ideology at work in the world today. It is the kind of selfish liberalism that promotes individual rights above all else. It enshrined corporations with the same status. It deifies wealth and status. It is extremely intolerant of alternative viewpoints.
She might be affiliated with a "conservative" party, but don't believe she represents conservative ideals.
Conservatism:
Values family and community
Looks out for society as a whole
Spends money wisely
Believes in tradition.
Most discussions about politics and ideology misrepresent ideological values. Neoliberalism is the order of the day.

Avoiding answering was probably the better way to go

Yeah, but they're young and fresh. Who cares?

Cool! I think there might be people involved here in Smith's administration?

I don't know for sure myself, but former PC Minister Thomas Lukaszuk is making that claim:

Manitoba premier puts other priorities ahead of Alberta's request to ship oil through Churchill
Quote:
Manitoba Premier Heather Stefanson says her government has more pressing concerns than entertaining Alberta's request for a meeting about shipping oil from the Port of Churchill.
Stefanson said she's open to future discussions, but the invitation from new Alberta Premier Danielle Smith isn't a top priority.

Is that unreasonable.
If the toddler got adequate medical care after being in the ER for 10 hours than perhaps the ER wasn’t the correct response. And if the concern was one of these things that a triage nurse was very easy to determine it wasn’t life threatening then I don’t see a 10 hour wait being an issue.

Part of the issue is that ER staff are not allowed to turn away and re-route people who present with non-emergency or life threatening issues. A lot of it has to do with liability I’m sure (you don’t want to turn someone away and have them die two hours later). This, combined with Healthlink that directs people to the emergency room if they described symptoms which COULD indicate life-threatening issues, and the fact that people having severe mental issues (including people considering suicide) also funnel through the emergency room, means a lot of people who do not need to spend 10 hours in the emergency room spending 10 hours in the emergency room.
Is it unreasonable? Of course it is. You can question the right solution for it, but you shouldn’t have to ask if 10 hours at the emergency room is unreasonable.

I had to get an abscess drained a few months ago. Family doctor wasn't taking appointments, so I went to a walk-in clinic. They told me they didn't have the necessary equipment to drain it and told me to go to the ER. I spent around 10 hours waiting at Foothills for a quick incision and drain
Some posters here don't seem to grasp that the ER is the only option for many people right now

GGG, if you have read any of the many stories lately from HCW about how mangled the ER is, how they feel awful about not being able to provide care, how people are literally sitting on the floor in their own vomit waiting for care, you may re-evaluate your hunch that the system is worknig as designed. It is not.
