UPD: Flames prospect Zach Fischer tradeded to Spokane.

Major bombshell dropped by Tigers HC Clouston. 20 year old F Zach Fischer has left the team. Sounds like he could be heading to Calgary.
If you aren't following the back burner forum, reportedly Fischer asked for a trade with some of the shenanigans Clouston is doing with the team.
News UpdateMitch Bach @CHATTVMitchBach
For clarity - Fischer will join the Flames for evaluation. No connection to Hitmen.

Medicine Hat is no good now? That's a bummer, I was born there.

Interesting, Clouston has been in MH forever...dont hear a lot of bad things about him at all.
Wonder what happened here?

It's convenient for the Flames to own their own WHL team. They can rescue their prospects from other teams.
You should never be in a situation where you're coaching your son at this level of hockey. They should trade his kid to another team so any questions of favouritism is gone.

Apparently he has started to coach his own son, and has gifted him a top 6 role he doesn't deserve.

What is interesting though is that the Flames have suddenly become more willing to use the Hitmen and acquire their own WHL prospects in recent years.
Kanzig, Schneider, Karnaukhov (yes I know he was drafted from the Hitmen) and now possibly Fischer.
Up until Treliving, the Flames pretty much stayed out of the way the Hitmen's hockey decisions.

My brother-in-law works as a scout for a WHL team (not the Hitmen), but he is based in Medicine Hat and let's just say he's not a fan of Shaun Clouston.

That's going to create a mess for the Hitmen given their three current 20-year-olds are their starting goalie and two of their top three scorers from last year. For a team that is already struggling, they are going to take a hit somewhere. I'd guess they would trade for a 19-year-old goalie and release Schneider - who's not very good anyway.

oh so maybe the Flames are thinking of taking him to pro. AHL or ECHL.

They just touched on this on FAN960 and mentioned it sounds like a Flames story, not a Hitmen story. He is reportedly in Calgary for observation (I think that is what they said). Maybe looking to send him to AHL?
Edit - Yup evaluation. Sureloss takes the square.

There are a lot of rumours here about Clouston and the extreme dislike a lot of players have for him. This is the third player off the top of my head that has either walked out on the team or requested a trade in the last couple of years. Every time it's often suggested that the coaching is the reason.

Both my parents grew up there. Lots of summer vacations, Christmas vacations, etc. Haven't been back in years, but I love The Hat.

Medicine Hat could do with the return of Willie Desjardins (after he's done with his Olympics gig in South Korea).

Maybe this is a bigger picture item; flames are planning on moving some bodies to make the NHL roster work... Maybe Fischer is a piece in that mechanism?
Not based on anything, personal speculation.

Hhmmmm. In a situation in which the Flames have too many good players in their professional ranks for their AHL/NHL squads I don't see how adding to their numbers helps to solve the problem at hand.

Funny, I don't see any kids named Clouston on that team. Elite lists his son as Connor Clouston, a 21 year old dman who is no longer junior eligible.
