Not to mention it would be horribly from an "Equality" optics perspective for the IOC to try and do whatever they can to get the NHLer men back for the next olympics, while canning the women's tournament.
Plus canning it before the Beijing Olympics when China has been trying to make the investment, and before they hope to get them in Canada where it will be a big money maker, makes it a huge non-starter on both the $$$ aspect and the 'growth of the game' aspect.

I don't get the 'not enough international competition' argument for women's hockey. Hockey is a sport. People play it all over the world. So hockey, and women's hockey, should be an Olympic event. The Olympics are a display of the highest tier of sport.

There is no discussion to remove table tennis because china is too good.

Exactly. That and the US just coughed up 'big bucks' to the Women, who rewarded them with the Gold.
It's not going away, nether the IOC nor NBC will let it happen, nor should it.

Do we really need to consider removing *any* events from the Winter Games? There's movement in the Summer games because there are *42* sports already. In the winter there are only 15.

No chatter about Larocque taking off her medal after just presented to her?
I’m fine with it, but the Swedish lad got ripped for doing it at the WJHC.

Apples to oranges. Larocque didn’t toss her medal into the stand and tell anyone with a mic that it had zero value and then double down on that the next day.

It was an unfortunate bad exchange. He lost a lot of momentum then had to avoid Seo who was lapped.

Totally bush. Imagine if game 7 of the SC finals was decided in a shootout. This is pretty much the women's equivalent.

Good stuff. I love this guy.
And yeah, he’s living the best life right now around that Olympic village I’m thinking

There’s nothing wrong with doing that either.
Lias did nothing wrong.

Just watched the final 4 ends of Koe's loss. That is very disappointing, missing some big shots including woefully light on a draw.

There is a lot of pressure on these curling teams, perhaps more than they expect coming in. This year, neither rink handled it very well it seems.

Love Biathlon.
Sweden was 30 seconds behind 2nd place coming into last shooting and got the silver.
Crazy stuff in that wind/weather

After a year away there's going to be another World Cup stop in Canmore next February.

It's an absolute blast, plus the Erdinger is flowing.

I think you hit the nail on the head right there, both Homan and Koe are better curlers than they've shown. When you look at Martins at Vancouver Olympics and Jones at Sochi Olympics, both are so calm, cool and collected. Nothing seems to be able to fray them.

When you look at Homan in this Olympics, after the first game where she got hammered by South Korea and came back short to lose the game. After that game, she just seemed lost, cannot regain her form.
