They aren't in a mode now of doing that. We can debate if they should be, but I think it is clear they aren't.

Second this.
Brodie could be moved, but it will be for help upfront and allow someone from the farm to take a D-spot in Calgary.

I could also see him being moved for a pick if the Flames think they can land a free agent to fill that hole.

We have on of the fans on this board and I've talked to the other one and he said he'd be ok with it.

Interesting...haven't seen Gallagher play much this year or last, but I would've thought a Brodie for Gallagher and one of Montreal's seconds would be a good trade for the Flames.

Yeah, it would definitely need to be for a guy ready to go next season in the NHL but then again Kyle Wood is due for a callup from Tucson next season.
The way these guys have gelled the last 20 games, I don't see much movement. Next year

Taking a while to get to 5000

Eye of the beholder I suppose but Gallagher would be a terrific add to this team.

A deal with Montreal to bring in Byron and Gallagher would be fantastic.

Gallagher is good, but in all my viewings of him, he's not the kind of guy you spend big assets on. He is scrappy and very skilled but he doesn't take over shifts.
Galchenyuk would be my target. I think he'd come cheaper as well.
I'd suggest Brodie/Hamonic+Kylington for Galchenyuk+Byron. You'd have to then go and get a decent d-man in FA or else pray that Valimaki or Kulak could take a step.

If free agency can't land the Flames a top 6 forward, I could like with this lineup:
Gaudreau - Monahan - Bennett
Tkachuk - Backlund - Gallagher
Byron - Jankowski - Ferland
Brouwer - Lazar - Frolik
Giordano - Hamilton
Kulak - Hamonic
Andersson - Stone

I watch Habs game all the time, Gallagher creates something out there almost every shift and grinds it out. I'd gladly welcome him here with open arms.

Thoughts on the Flames looking at Ho Sang and/or Dal Colle from the Isles? Obviously Ho Sang has had some attitude issues, but if they can get him in line he'd be a skilled top 6 RW for us. Dal Colle hasn't shown much yet, but he's got a great shot that they could set up on the PP.

Would you trade Backlund this off season? He's been one of the biggest disappointments since signing that contract and has shown he can't do much of anything without Tkachuck.

Nobody but Calgary wants a 3C with that contract.

Thought it was a mistake signing him to thatcontract, but no chance in hell does Tre trade him this off season. Tre already has to answer to owners of what went wrong this year (also possible coaching change). He just went to the owners and explained to them why they should be paying for backlunds new deal. Owners would think he had no clue of what he is doing.

Knee-jerk much?
The guy has had three great seasons and then one bad month on a team that clearly has bigger issues than what we can put our finger on, and you want to get rid of him?
Might as well unload Monahan, Johnny, Gio, Smith, Hamilton because they’ve all been pretty bad this past month.

3 seasons where he scores only more than 50pts once and the team misses the playoffs twice. Not sure a 6 year $5.3M per deal was the right call.
Monahan, Gaudreau has career seasons. Maybe they should consider trading Gio or Dougie this summer for help up front? Smith is likely back next year but certainly not a long term answer
