Randy Sportak @SUNRandySportak
Treliving also said Mason McDonald will be brought to Calgary to have his knee looked at by team docs. Initial report: sprain, not torn.

Calgary Flames prospect Mason McDonald did not travel with the Charlottetown Islanders to Sherbrooke, QC this weekend as the netminder is being evaluated for injury he suffered in the early moments of Game 3.

"Through the cooperation of our team medical staff and the Calgary Flames, Mason will be seen by Flames doctors for further evaluations," Islanders general manager Grant Sonier said. "When we know the full extent of the injury we will make a further update. I want to assure all our fans and followers, Mason has received and will continue to receive the best care ensuring his return to the ice as quickly as possible."

McDonald's playoffs are over:

Jeremy Fraser @FraserTQN
Charlottetown Islanders goaltender Mason McDonald will miss the remainder of the playoffs with a knee injury. #qmjhl #lhjmq

I hope he is healthy enough for Canada's WJC summer camp.

On the web page they are saying up to 8 weeks. Out for the rest of the playoffs.
I would guess he will be good for WJC camp.

It actually says "upwards of 8 weeks", which is a little more ambiguous.

"To be back with my gear on and going pretty hard it feels awesome," he said. "There's definitely a little bit of caution that I take. It doesn't hurt, but I'm still being careful on the ice, not doing crazy movements, not diving side to side yet."

Anyone watching the islanders playoffs? 6 goals against in 2 games but 73 shots. How's Macdonald looking?

An associate of mine who watches the Islanders closely says that MacDonald let in two weak goals, but aside from that was "stellar" in Rimouski.

Holy crap. Reading game summary from last night. Charlottetown outshot Rimouski 54-28. 32 of those were in the 3rd

THe Islanders have knocked off Rimouski. McDonald was 38/41 in the elimination game.

Hang on, am I missing something? The Islanders have just lost 5-4 to Rimouski, McDonald saved 40 of 45 shots?

http://theqmjhl.ca/gamecentre/games/4550?tab=3

Series is 3-2 Islanders, not 4-1.

At the rate this is going, MacDonald's going to facing 70 shots in a game by the end of the series.
Game 1: 36 shots
Game 2: 39 shots
Game 3: 51 shots
