If you think anything other than winning will do this, then you're being naive.

Just wondering as I know of a soon-to-be-announced option that will be around in 2019 that is the polar opposite of the Flames. That is a significantly cheaper game day experience, rumoured new stadium, different atmosphere in the stands, although potentially just as boring to some.
|
If its MLS I'd be into it. Although I think there would be more rumor if it was. Is this the CPL that is to start in 2019?

Agreed. There might be some enthusiasm for a few games, but they crap out and lose 4 in a row that's all gone.

I am probably going to renew because I love the team and it is within my means to do so. If things were more tight I would cancel without question.
Horrible product the last 2 years and if Gulutzan is retained mark my words I will ask uncomfortable questions at the season ticket holder session. If they keep Gulutzan Treliving is sticking his neck on the line ready to be chopped off the block.

If they increase prices after this ugly season I will cancel.
If they keep prices the same, I will consider it.
If they realize they've over promised, under delivered and drop the prices (ha!) I will be back.
Crappy season, terrible coach, arena debacle & stagnant entertainment value is my reasoning.

I got season tickets in 2003 because it was becoming difficult to get tickets. And until this year, it was fairly easy to get rid of the tickets we couldn’t use. As well, we wanted to ensure that we got playoff tickets. So it is hard to get rid of unused tickets (in terms of recouping cost), it is easy to pickup a set of tickets to random games for below face value and playoffs are not happening as regularly as we would like.
I feel like this might be the time to not renew. If they get going well again, happy to put my name on the wait list. I was hoping that we would be in a new arena by now. If we were, I would probably be more inclined to hang onto them. But seems like an expensive luxury and am happy to watch games in HD on TV and save $60 in parking, food etc.

If you took the cost of a single season ticket in 2017 (whites section 3k) and invested in bitcoin you would have enough to pay for about 8 seasons at today's prices.

This hockey we play is absolute garbage. Not t entertaining in the least and I’d be singing the same song even if we are in the playoffs. I refuse to pay to watch it anymore. If Gulutzan hasn’t been formerly removed from the Flames prior to renewals I won’t be renewing after ten years.

I’ll prob renew, but this was the first year in a long time that I really had the full season to myself so unless I get shareholders back then I’m going to just get a cheaper section and upgrade on the fly (with the Saddledome app), if I want a better seat.
After 15yrs, I doubt I could just drop them plus I enjoy the golf and poker tourneys too much!

How does that app work? Can you use it for single tickets?

This was it for me.
Canceling after this season - and it’s because it’s just not fun. The brand of hockey is bottom of the barrel. It’s ugly, boring, and unsuccessful. There’s little joy, and it makes going to games feel like a chore.
The Saddledome is also a crap facility in an ugly part of downtown that doesn’t make for a fun night out.
I’ll just make the change to buying the odd ticket here and there.

I don't even live in Calgary anymore and kept season tickets.
The last two seasons due to traveling for work and then leaving the city I've had to sell about 35 or so games.
This was a brutal year for it and last year wasn't much better to get rid of tickets at cost.
So I'll only renew if two things happen:
GG is fired
Prices go down (I'll give it some thought I'd they're neutral).
Any increase in price or GG coming back and I'm out for sure.

According to the Flames website the prices start at $20/seat for the Press Level seats ($19.99 times 41 games a year is $819.59 per seat, per season) to the Gold level, which are $206.57 per seat ($206.57*41=$8469.37). Double that cost if you want a pair of seats.

I gave them up last year, and am glad that I did.
I was close to renewing. A friend was planning of taking a quarter of my tickets before his fiance kiboshed it. I would have definitely renewed last year if he was taking a quarter. But I wouldn't take them back now if I had half of them sold.
I originally figured we would still pick up at least five games in the season. But we only ended up going to one game this season.
It's a lot of money for tickets. And given that I didn't really miss it, my only regret is not giving them up sooner.

I imagine I'll renew. If they keep Gulutzan I might change my mind. If they somehow feel entitled to another increase of more than a couple percent I might change my mind.
I'll honestly be expecting a lot more next season. A lot. If we don't see marked improvement, next off season could be a different story. I attend 30 or more games with our tickets and the last couple seasons it's been too much some nights.
