I think you're right. That fits with be positive and trying to get him going.

Sad to see Middaugh lose. I've enjoyed watching that team even though I was on team Koe coming in.

He is to dictorial. You see it now...Koe sees a shot and shows the ice he wanrs and Morris is almost always doing the "well what about this" thing.

Its fine to talk about things...but the skip is the driver of the bus....let them.

I don't know if that's dictatorial, although he would be if he were skip. But it is about knowing your place and when to shut up, especially when the skip in this case kind of has a clue. Koe must want him doing a little of that, or he wouldn't have his second holding the broom for him.

Scott Howard just standing there pouting in the ninth end instead of sweeping that rock behind the tee line was a huge mistake!!

Best possible case for Alberta though. Two chances for gold, and gold
means two Alberts teams back next year with the Brier being held in Alberta. Darren Moulding wearing Canada jersey in his hometown would be unreal!!

C’mon Bottcher, C’mon Koe!!

Bunch of shots where it's such a shame there's not a crowd. Especially a home crowd.

Welll....now that was a bit of a shot. Holy crap.

All AB final...dont care who wins but would be nice for Bottcher and crew to get one.

Im such a huge fan of Koe's as well and he could be the 1st guy to 5 titles.

Yup...good either way. Expect some serious shotmaking tonight.

That last shot hopefully gets replayed a lot. Amazing, especially staring elimination in the face.

A picked stone and a miss by Koe and now Bottcher is in control.

This one might be over. Koe needs a miracle on his final shot in 8.

Well he did get a minor miracle there on a great shot. Down 1 without in 9.

Bottcher hasn't had to make a tough shot yet, their team playing flawless.

Great shot on Bottcher's first in the 10th and Koe could do nothing. Congrats!

One of the less exciting finals I can remember but when you watched end 7, it all sort of made sense. Both teams were locked in and it just took a couple of misses in 7 and suddenly there was a 3 on the board. That was sort of like a hockey "shut-down 2-1" win - nothing flashy but it got the job done.

Glad to see Botcher finally break through and excited to see them at the worlds. Feels like this might be start of the passing of the torch in Alberta - Koe is now in his late forties and has been at the top of his game for almost a decade. Wonder what happens from here.

Great week of curling though - it's awesome to see Canada continue to pump out great curling teams.

Yah, a game like that can be tough for TV, but the margin for error is nil.

All the top teams we saw at the brier and Scotties are committed to each other until the Roar of the Rings (Olympic Qualifier) which we will see in the fall. I presume most will stick together through the play downs and Scotties/ Brier but this time next year we will see a huge shake up amongst many of the teams, guys and girls retiring and players stepping back, and curlers changing “residence”.

Didnt want to make a new thread but i watched a bit of the mixed doubles this morning. It looks pretty fun with high scoring but i can't tell who's good or not.

Changing this to a "2021 Curling Season" thread might not be a bad idea.

I enjoyed Mixed Doubles in the Olympics and it's nice to see it on TV again.

They just added this to ESPN3 in the US. I like having it on in the background while I'm working.

It's rather chaotic. Nice to see many of the big names hung around to play in this.

edit: Defending Olympic champs on different teams, both lost today.

The mixed doubles is fun but should have happened before the Scottie’s as awarm-up event. The shotmaking and strategy is just not at the same level as a full foursome on top of their game. Chaotic is a good word for it compared to the Scottie’s and the Brier.

I’ll still watch a ton of it though.
