José Mourinho lambasted the attitude of his players and apologised to fans after Tottenham Hotspur were dumped out of the Europa League in humiliating fashion. Their trip to Zagreb was supposed to be little more than a formality after their two goal win in last week’s first leg but, four days after losing the north London derby, Spurs produced an anaemic display in perfect contrast to that of their hosts. Mislav Orsic’s magnificent hat-trick crowned a famous win for the Croatian champions.

“I’m disappointed with the difference of attitude between one team and the other,” said Mourinho after the 3-2 aggregate defeat. “I feel sorry that my team – I belong to that team – is the team that didn’t bring to the game not just the basics of football but, I believe, the basics of life, which is to respect our jobs and to give everything.”
“I don’t need external critics because I feel deeply hurt with what happened with my team. I don’t want to say much more than that. On behalf of my team, in spite of some of them maybe not sharing my feelings and emotions, I can only apologise to the Tottenham supporters.”

Mourinho went into the Dinamo’s dressing room after the match to congratulate the hosts for their deserved victory. But he accused his own of being unprofessional. “[Dinamo] played with a lot of desire. I can also call it professionalism, because for me professionalism starts with the attitude,” said Mourinho, adding he felt “more than sad” that his players “did not look like they were playing in an important match.”

^ hard to argue with any of that? The team was dreadful and showed virtually nothing. I think they’ve given up on him and it’s over.

So ... you think he should be retained and the team gutted for their lack of "professionalism"?
Or you think it's his fault for them not looking "like they were playing in an important match"?

Or can we discuss option C? Question Levy's last 20 years in charge?

It hardly matters what I think. I think it’s that the players have quit on each other though, and that’s probably his fault and they’re not absolved from responsibility either. There’s no reason they ought to have lost that game today, let alone the tie.

And what’s Levy to do here? He brought in a bunch of players last summer, and things looked good for 3-4 months. Hard to fault that kind of ambition and support. Clearly they needed at least one CB, but that’s got nothing to do with today.

not nearly enough from United, and I think Solskjaers poor man management is catching up to him. They all looked shot already, and then he had this exact XI on the field for the full 90 again West Ham ... "stupid" doesn't even begin to describe it. Milan quicker and more active, and I can't say I'm surprised.

The sportsbild head writer already confirmed a few weeks ago nagelsmann would be interested in the job if it was open

Also it's not the number 2 job in Germany, its probly 5th atm, and worldwide it's not high.

Sabitzer will already be there too, so some continuity for them

Think they meant number 2 in the Bundesliga table not desirability or size etc.

PSG and Bayern should mean lots of goals! Bayern is allergic to clean sheets this year. Now watch the tie end being 2-1 or something like that

That's a very good draw for Chelsea and Liverpool.
Opposite side of the draw from City, PSG and BM.

Fantastic draw for Chelsea.

Nothing is automatic at this stage so they will still need to show up with the right mentality.

PSG vs. Bayern is going to be insane!!

This is bigger than football, and Gerrard gets his post-game comments spot on.

yeah, Sportbild is not the best source. Just saying.

And I'd love to hear which 4 jobs in Germany are better than the Leipzig job. You could argue the Dortmund job is better, but they are facing an uphill battle to even make CL this season (they are losing to Cologne right now, which would mean they are 5 points behind Frankfurt for the 4th spot) and once Sancho and Haaland move on (and they will), it's going to be quite bleak there. Which other job would be better than Leipzig? Leverkusen? Gladbach? Wolfsburg? They don't even come close. Leipzig have money and ambition - they are not quite "there" yet, but soon enough.

I'm not saying the Tottenham job couldn't be very tempting for somebody at Leipzig. The PL is a huge draw after all and Spurs are a good team. But Nagelsmann is so highly rated in world football, I think he'll get an even better job than that very soon. Like I said, I would be surprised if he didn't end up at Bayern. He's the logical choice there, given that he's probably the best German coach out there already. And Flick hates Salihamidzic, he doesn't even hide it. Quite possible that Flick moves on to coach the German NT.

Yes he did.
The problem is he comes across as a hypocrite here given his support for Suarez's racist behaviour in the past.

I don't disagree. I'd like to think, when he's asked about it next, he admits he was wrong, in defending his racist teammate. Even Carragher, albeit with an Evra on his panel, apologized --- 9 years later. Idiots too, as the player has shown little regard since for his former club.

Outside of the players though, if my club rolled out a banner WITHIN that stadium that read "Player is a Ni***r", I'd hand in my card, and find a new club.

That's bloody systemic.

He should have admitted he was wrong years ago. It's shouldn't take a situation like this to force his hand. As such it weakens his stance and credibility on the issue at hand.

Yeah Caragher did nothing until he was seated across a table from Evra, as Rio said, eight years too late. To date Slippy hasn't apologized either. Shouldn't be forgotten how vocal in his support for Suarez and attack on Evra was our loudest Liverpool poster here.

Gotta laugh at their Sir Kenny Dalglish stand. Might as well put a sign up saying we support racism.

But yeah. That's a sick part of society. Will be interesting to see how Prague manage this. I've no doubt with the hand covering he was saying something nasty. Response to this is for every opponent to call him a racist c*## every minute of every game for the rest of his career to remind him what he is. You're not going to change people like that but why let them get away with it? Imagine having to play on the same team as someone like that?

Actually Slippy can.

My boyhood club just beat a premier league team to achieve the biggest success in club history. I thought the meme was good fun, but the guy isn’t even a Spurs fan.

Didn’t think it was trash.

^I believe you and Cam have mixed up games. He replied to you with an incident regarding Prague/Rangers game.

And if you open the link I'm sure you'll change your mind that it was trash.
