I've been there for 3 work lunches lately (ie the South side of Stephen Ave location after they moved from across the street) and its been 'meh' at best. Pricey and small portions in my view. Burger was tasty, but that was about it.

The owner of Tazza Deli in Bridgeland is retiring. Tomorrow is their last day and all proceeds are going to the Tom Baker Cancer Centre.

Oh wow! I love that place and that's a big loss to the neighbourhood!

My face is a bum!

I've been curious why Tazza would get closed instead of sold. I am pretty sure that family owns the building that Bridgeland Market is in (formerly Northeast Grocery) so maybe they own the building Tazza is in as well and are looking to sell that as part of the retirement plan, hence not just selling the business? It seems busy enough that it would be doing alright.

so continuing the topic from a few months back about restaurants that are hidden gems and/or deserve more business, shout out to Cafe Momoko in West Springs. there's a portion of neighborhood patrons that are still mad they dropped sushi from their menu to add more Korean options, but everything I've tried is top notch.
The original owner was a super friendly dude, maybe a little too chatty for my taste. I think he retired though and so now you get your food quietly and efficiently. I know that a combo Japanese/Korean joint sounds like it might be sketch, but the google reviews are also strong so there's some consensus on it.

In these sad times, I thought I would bump this thread, as we went out last night for a last hurrah (weird anniversary, so had to do it) to Workshop. It was pretty quiet and the food was fantastic, and not hurt by the fact that we brought a bottle of 2012 Insignia. I would particularly single out the carrot appetizer and the mushroom/vegetarian pasta main. Noteworthy, as a confirmed meat eater, I found these vegetarian dishes brilliant! Best carrot preparation I have seen anywhere, and the pasta with various mushrooms and leeks was superb.
The waiter said they are staying open for now.
BTW we spent the night at the Palliser and they are shutting the Fairmont Gold floors and penthouse/lounge until April 30 starting tomorrow and furloughing the staff.

I went to 8 two nights ago. Little did I know when reserving it would be the socially responsible setting for dinner. It was fun, the food was mostly lost on me, but I appreciate the creativity. Speaking of carrot...the carrot sorbet was pretty good. However I did have to question the bone marrow and escargot taco. Mmmm, chewy and mushy.

Went to the Avenida food court today and it was amazing. Highly recommend. Wife and kids all loved it and was even able to get a green beer for St. Paddy's. Lots of fresh veggies available at the market as well.

SSome Korean restaurant was at capacity last night and turning guests away. We found that surprising given the pandemic and bitter cold.

I can't remember if I have already said this, but I think it's the only Calgary restaurant that can stand up internationally, in terms of food quality and creativity.
