Notable. You can get the burger and be satisfied. She can get something else!

I second the Notable recommendation. My wife and I eat there frequently. I suggest aiming for a 5:00 pm arrival if you do not have a reservation as it gets busy.

Not a recommendation for the request above, because I don't think it's a good place for kids, but I enjoyed Workshop last night.
Don't check out their website first. It comes across very pretentious. However, the experience itself was a lot of fun, if you are willing to try anything. Their specialty is a 3 or 5 course improv. Basically, the chef decides on the courses and you have no idea what they are until you get them. The food was good and it was fun to be surprised.
They do ask if you have allergies ahead of time and can try to work around things, but you have to be pretty willing to eat anything. One thing I wasn't expecting was that my dislike of root beer would be relevant, however it featured in the dessert. It was only one part though, and I enjoyed the rest of the dessert and felt that I had plenty, even with not eating the root beer flavoured portion.
There is also a small menu if you want to choose your own food.

Had dinner at Divino last night, and it was excellent - their menu has a number of duck confit related items and they were very good. The duck confit with bean cassoulet appetizer, in particular, is pretty much a main. And they still have the foie gras ravioli. It's pricey - 4 appetizers + 1 main + 1 bottle of wine = $185 before tip.

Michael Noble's other place in Inglewood, The Nash, is also great!

There isn't anywhere that I actually want to go for dinner at so does anyone have any good suggestions for dinner in the NW (Crowfoot/Varsity/16th Ave area)?
Maybe I can get her to go to Boogies and I can still enjoy a burger. I think she might be disappointed with that place though (she probably doesn't want a burger.)

Lasagna at Matador's in Varsity is amazing. Their Pizza is fine, but their lasagna is a step above.

It is! We go there a lot, too. Their Dirty Mac is a very good burger, but I usually have the prime rib on Saturday night.
One of his former chefs opened up a place called Ricardo's Hideaway. Lots of rum and island food.

Check out the Dean House in Inglewood. Totally redone on the interiors and new restaurant concept (I think by the people that did River Cafe and Boxwood). Pretty fantastic cocktail menu, with a real variety of great drinks.
Fantastic bar menu.

At at Mercato's last night. Awesome stuff. If it helps the credibility we are all Italian and we were really impressed with everything. I'd go back in a heartbeat. Gonna have to check out their day market.

My wife and I went to A&W today. It was my first time in like 15 years or maybe even more. I had the Mozza burger meal. Holy cow, why would anyone go anywhere else for a burger.

Because A&W sucks and the quality isn't the same from location to location, at least in my experience.

Agreed. I used to love the 2 teens for $5 at Mac Hall at the UofC, but lately, the teen burgers have been cold, bland, and generally not good.
Not sure if it has anything to do with the switch to "hormone free beef" or whatever it is.

Personally, A&W is a good stand in for the growing $20 for a beer and burger cancer sweeping our nation's gastro-pubs.

Seriously. Someone needs to tell A&W that their burgers don't need to be built as if they need to survive the trek across the Northwest Passage.
