Few people I've seen mentioned are even available. There's a trend this season where coaches are getting a longer leash, and it's vindicated by people like Paul Maurice, Jared Bednar, and Bruce Cassidy suddenly looking like geniuses. The only way Joel Quenville or Alain Vigneault are available is if they choose to be. Darryl Sutter is the only one available, and a Calgary team has already tuned him out once before.

Would love Quennville. Probably number one on my list as I'm sure every other team in the league. Is Chicago gonna let him go so fast after he's won them 3 cups though?
Would take Vigneault as well. Trotz wouldn't be bad.
Which is pretty irrelevant. It may as well have been the Florida Panthers.
It's not irrelevant in the sense that he's an old school coach, and that's the pitfall and down fall of old school coaches, and the express reason Bob was let go and replaced with a "players coach".
Do you see that decision reversing itself so soon? Do you think the only thing holding this team back is someone to yell at them?

Yep, a lot of teams actually purposely go back and forth between players coaches and the other guys as teams tend to roll over the players guys eventually and tune out the harsh guys eventually.
If he gives us a three years of buy in and excellent results (and he's had some excellent results in his career) then I'd be down for it, for sure.
And to be honest, yes I do believe one thing holding the team back is not so much not having someone to yell at them, but having someone that commands the team and commands commitment. Someone where maybe not every player is happy all the time, but they know when they get to the rink they have to give their all or there will be accountability.
No, no, no to AV. Our youngsters' development will suffer while he goes with the vets and the 'character' players he trusts. See Tanner Glass and Andrew Alberts, I could see Troy Brouwer being one of his faves.
One of the reasons why he is rumoured to become available this off-season is because the Rangers have declared themselves a rebuilding team and he isn't one known for giving young kids many opportunities.
Couldn't improve the powerplay when the oft-injured Sami Salo was out, and went 1-10 in playoff games after the Canucks 2010 final run. Can't control the room, when the Canucks went on extended losing streaks (which I enjoyed), it was basically up to whether or not the Sedins wanted to score or not; and very little AV did to tweak the lines or adjust the playing style would help.

There is a few people from CP that post like experts on coaching NHL caliber players. I know they have decided against that career path because multiple Stanley cups can be boring but maybe we can convince them that they should apply.

One thing that I like about Darryl Sutter is how he doesn't allow or buy in to any emotional peaks and valleys.
His quote after the kings came from down 0-3 to beat the Sharks summed it up perfectly. Basically said they were chasing the Sharks all year and finally caught them. No big deal...
