I think Shore's illness has come back, otherwise I'd have him in over Hathaway. Has he been skating?

BTW, has anyone seen what Stewart has done at practice?

considering how close Calgary is to a playoff spot it's amazing how many people here have turned on them so hard. especially in the last couple of weeks
sure they've had a disappointing year, but they are only a couple of wins from a wildcard spot.
people here are talking like the flames are Oiler level bad.

Even if we do make the playoffs, we'll probably be swept again.

I have no faith in team or coach to make it anywhere past the first round.

They'll just be "not ready to compete".

I wish we were leaps and bounds better than the oil. We AREN'T.
As for the wildcard spot and making it.....i just don't think we do much better than last year if we make it.
Man I'd love to be wrong ..... especially if Smith returns and gets us in 100% healthy because without him we go no where.

In the first round, we'd just hear "bit of a rough start", and "not the start we wanted" 4 times from GG! I'm sure of it.

If the Flames somehow find their way in, chances are they'd be playing the Predators in the 1st round. (assuming the Flames get the 2nd wildcard)

Seen the splits against Nashville the past few years? That's a winnable series.

Yes, plus if they do make it, they will do it as a team on a hot streak. Unlike other years.

I would rather make the playoffs and fail as 15 of the teams do than not make the playoffs to prove some point about the roster/coach. At least its watching playoff hockey which is incredibly engaging

This one might be a high scoring game. Flames better win.

I think the issue is the team has made no progress from last year despite significantly better goaltending. This should, at least on paper, have been a better team than it is.

Fix'd

This Flames team can beat a team full of guys, and they're going to need to pick up these points. Playoffs are very doable if they win the games they're supposed to.

That's been a while now. He must have that McDavid flu strain.

We really don't want the Flames giving up a lottery pick do we? If nothing else playoffs prevent that.

TBH it's nice we won't have anyone cheering for losses

Is the team save percentage any better? Smith is better but the backups are worse.

Team save percentage is bottom half of the league

They aren't 'a couple wins' from a wild card spot though. A record of 10-4-1 only gets them a 45.9% chance of making the playoffs. What signs have you seen in the past month that they can even come close to achieving a 10-4-1 record?

They still have a chance, but it's a small chance at best. At least if they do make it they'll be one of the hottest teams going in.

This doesn't even matter to me. The pick is gone, what the Isles do with it is irrelevant at this point. It might be a bit embarrassing for Tre, but whatever.

Sadly, we are in a position now where we play few of the teams above us. Our fate is no longer in our hands; we have to rely on other teams to win games for us, including the Oilers.

The only thing we can do is put up points and hope the rest falls into place. Not ideal!

On the plus side this team seems to consistently show up more often than almost any team we've had here in recent memory.

But consistency of effort isn't consistency of result.

The big issue is whether they can finish enough chances (they'll get more than Buffalo) to make up for giving up at least two.
