Glad they're running with Gillies. I think he has an advantage over Rittich menaltally.

10-1 Pens. 3rd period at 10min mark, Gulutzan throws the towel and walks out, never to be heard from again.

Flames have done well against the Pens lately IIRC. Flames are also a good road team. I also expect them to be rather an upset and hungry bunch after their recent skid and watching the playoff chances diminish.

This should be an exciting game. I will be both upset and surprised if I don't see this team come out really strong tonight.

Also, anyone ever think: "The Penguins are such a dumb name - what the heck does Pittsburgh have to do with Penguins?" Heck, if the Calgary Flames ever fold/relocate and eventually there is a new team here, I am voting: "Calgary Caracals", or maybe the "Calgary Capybaras". Sounds just as good and makes just as much sense.

I could see the Flames winning this one, but laying an egg against Buffalo. Because Glen Gulutzan.

I actually thought the Flames had a good game, but not a good result last time out, especially in the first period. Hopefully it translates better this time.

The Pens are not as good as they once were. I think Backlund matches fairly well against Crosby, so the key is whether they can (a) get that matchup and (b) control Malkin, who is a handful.

A sweep definitely changes the conversation as the Kings and Sharks don't play again until Thursday, so the Flames could be tied(with LA) and 2 back of SJ by Thursday night. They would obviously have games in hand, but with games against those two teams still to come, it's not impossible this race could once again get tight.

But sweeping these three seems like a very big ask right now, especially tonight.

Pens are an elite team, so the Flames will probably win this one. They always play well against the league's best.

It's the bottom feeders and bubble teams I'm worried about.

Ugh... I find myself already checked out with this team.

I think 96 points is the required total to get in this year. That means in the 16 games remaining the team needs to get 23 of a possible 32 points. So, they only have about 9 points they can lose. Can the team go on a real tear, and lose only 4-5 games?? I seriously doubt it.

They need to get 3 straight wins here, just to get any hope or momentum.

Genius coach decides to continue to give starts to stajan/brouwer. He's really a lousy coach, i am personally a-ok if this group doesn't win another game this season if that means this guy is canned as soon as the season's done.

This is where I'm at, too. If playoffs = coach extension and no playoffs = no extension, I'd rather we miss. Of course, I haven't a clue what will or will not dictate a coaching staff extension so I'll still root for the Flames to make it in and make some noise. I'll just do so meekly

Yay Ferland is back.

Helps the top line but really helps the bottom 6 get Bennett back too

Hopefully Ferland's back to how he was playing before that line got cold. Wouldn't surprise me at all if he was playing hurt for a bit before he ended up sitting out a few games.

I'd like to see Lazar get back in, IMO he's been better than Hathaway for the last month or so.

Anyone know what the actual lineup is tonight? All the media folk on Twitter have different info.

Yeah, it should be Lazar in place of Hathaway. Unless Lazar's hurt or banged up, him sitting out especially for Hathaway makes no sense.

Hathaway's been arguably the worst Flames forward overall for a long while.

Really don’t know what to expect for this game... would be nice to see the team show up and play a full 60 minutes for a change
