I was surprised when Keenan was fired and I was surprised when Hartley was fired, I think both of them went at the wrong time.

I wanted to send Brent Sutter packing, I could not stand his brand of hockey and I am glad that brand of hockey hasn't gotten another shot at the NHL. I feel exactly the same with GG and his brand of hockey.

I just hope we don't have a repeat of getting someone with experience-who may not be the most delicate with the players and then firing them from what seems like out of nowhere from a fan's perspective.

I agree in that he made some pretty solid moves given the team's situation and believe he was on the losing end of a power struggle as at that time there were far too many cooks in the Flame kitchen when Bremner was president.

This really is the question. Or add ownership to that if they are creating parameters or directives with which these guys have to work.

I am not part of Treliving’s fan club but I wonder if this really is his approach to building a winning hockey organization.

Coates was interim GM of the Ducks IIRC.

I honestly think that GG may be the worst coach in relation to the team that the Flames have ever had.

At least when guys like poor coaches like Hay and Gilbert coached, the team was terrible.

That would go a long way in determining whether the owners sign off on an "elite" coach or not. If it's a three year deal, I just can't see them authorizing $4-$6mil/yr while paying Gulutzen next year.

If his contract is up, I think they'll give the green light.

He was interim GM with the Ducks, but I also didn't realize you were looking for only same title examples.
Certainly though he was a well respected hockey mind and player personnel executive.

Darryl Sutter please. I like Hartley hockey myself, but I doubt that would happen. If you look at Vegas and Boston, they play that same style, relentless forechecking and head-manning the puck. Anyone who implements that style I’m for. I’m against Tippet or any boring system, Sutter’s system isn’t the most exciting either, but he’s a guy you go through walls for and can get it done. No rookie coaches please. If Treliving brings back GG he can go too.

I have the usual names on the list, but I will open it up to any coach who has mutiple instances of getting teams past the first round or further, in the past 3-5 years. Hartley had no playoff wins since 2002 when he got hired. Keenan similar. Playfair had no pedigree. Brent was the only one but he had his brother on the hit seat when he arrived and then a GM who undermined his brother.

This team shouldn’t have regressed this much this year, and they had multiple stretches where they dominated their opponents (whether results showed it or not) so the skill development of the individual players isn’t a question to me. It’s the organizer and motivator of that team that’s lost the control over that team.

To get the team next level, it needs to be a coach and staff that has a pedigree of recent, consistent success. That way, besides that coach able to face and change in game if there is adversity, and push buttons on players to get them that playoff success consistently, there can be no doubt that the coaches tactics and motivational techniques work, and don’t need be questioned.

Basically, I think this season has come down to the coaches preparing players the same as last year, but when the coaches cant adapt or motivate in game, and have to resort to stick throws to get points across and light fires, players are slowly losing confidence that those coaches know what they’re doing and things get worse..we saw it last year and it took the train ride rant, this year the stick throw...but after two season of not buying in fully, and then seeing what success the coach has had in the league before, the players are tuning him out....evidenced by the team folding under pressure, something this same roster didn’t do last year.

I'm starting to question the Burke/King/Treliving tag team on team performance. I'm starting to think these guys really don't have it all figured out like they come across and are flying by the seat of their pants.

That was when Iggy was here.....we now have a whole ne crew of coach killers here.
