Tyler Toffolli has looked awful this game.

Noticed Mcdavid got the 2nd assist on the Oiler goal. Because of course he did. I’d love to audit his points at Rogers. He’s probably gotten more than his fair share of phantom assists.

Mr Staples how can this be? The team with bestest depth ever starts the season 1-2 while being out scored 12-9.

The Golden Knights alternate jerseys should be the permanent home jerseys.

The Wild currently have all the horseshoes. That was a wild ending to tie the game at the last second in regulation time after being down two goals. Then winning it late in overtime to beat the Kings for the second time in a row in the extra session!

There was a small sense of normalcy with HNIC happening. The highlights, the intermission commentary, and reading the OOT here on Calgarypuck!

Final scores

Okay, seven of the OOT games were repeats from Thursday and one from Friday. The Predators were the only team to get a true sweep in their series as they won both games in reg time.
The complete reversal had the Rangers smacking the Islanders 5-0. Georgiev with the 23 save SHUTOUT. Both teams were bad on the PP. The Rangers were 1/8 and the Isles were 0/4.
The Wild winning both games in OT against the Kings was done in identical fashion. The Wild open the scoring only to have the Kings tie it up in the 1st period. The Kings score twice in the 2nd period to lead 3-1 and then the Wild come back to tie it up and win. Once again, both teams were brutal on the PP and had a great PK. Each team was 5/5 on the PK. Check the scoring summaries to see how similar the 2 games were, bizarre.
The Bruins-Devils had another 3 point game, this time the Devils won in OT with 2 seconds left. Sharangovich with the GWG. Bergeron had a SHG.
The Coyotes win in reg time over the Sharks. The similar pattern in the 2 games had the winning team with a 2 goal scorer. Hertl did that on Thurs. but only one goal on Sat. and vice-versa for Kessel.
LOL on the Oilers, the Habs whipped them 5-1. The Leafs out shot the Sens 40-19, but, only won by one goal in reg time to split their series.
The Knights win 3-2 in OT, Pacioretty scored 7 seconds into the OT. Both games were clean, just 3 minor penalties in this game and 2 in the previous game.
The Red Wings get a split as they beat the Hurricanes 4-2.

So did HNIC and the NHL reduce commercial breaks this season in order to make for a shorter broadcast? I noticed that programming after the late game was scheduled to start at 10:30 where in previous years the HNIC time slot was always until 11. I also noticed that the early games were done at around 7:30. If they are trying to shorten the broadcast window I strongly approve of this. Next step would be to reduce the intermission length by as much as 5 minutes.

I don't think so. If you look at the Game Summary for last night, puck drop was at 8:11 and the game ended at 10:35: http://www.nhl.com/scores/htmlreport...1/GS020028.HTM
Compare that to the Flames-Oilers game last year on January 11: http://www.nhl.com/scores/htmlreport...0/GS020700.HTM Start time was 8:09 and it ended at 10:33.
CBC didn't have any postgame coverage last night and there was no After Hours. Once the game ended, there was a quick recap and they signed off. That's why they had programming scheduled earlier than usual.

Either way it’s an dick move by the networks. 99% of games end past the bottom of the hour, meaning anyone who has a PVR misses the end of the game.
This also drives me crazy with college football. Like what’s the point of having scheduled time slots if they’re not representative of the programming?
