Ufa Batch 1 Results
OK here are the preliminary results. I say preliminary because it is easy to make mistakes with this.
Teams have until 11:59 PM Sunday night to lobby an appeal if they feel they provided a larger offer.
Otherwise this is what we have.
Andrej Sekera
Montreal: 3 @ 5.36, 1 way. Total 16.08
Mike Smith
Carolina: 3 @ 6.7, 1 way, Total: 20.10
Andrew Ladd
Chicago: 3 @ 1.8, 1 way, Total: 5.4
Hank Sedin
Pittsburgh: 3@ 1.7, 1 way, Total 5.1
Dan Markov
Blues 2 @ 3.45, 1 way, Total 6.9
Jason Pominville
Canes 2 @ 3.00, 1 way, Total 6.0
Patrick Marleau
Montreal 3 @ 7.28, 1 way, Total 21.84
James Reimer
Chicago 3@ 2.75, 1 way, Total 8.25
Pekka Rinne
Vancouver 2 @ 8.5, 1 way, Total 17.00
Alex Edler
New Jersey 3 @ 2.44, 1 way, Total 7.23
Matt Perrault
Detroit 3 @ 5.57, 1 way, total 16.71
Milan Lucic
Detroit 3 @ 5.26, 1 way, Total 15.78
Kris Versteeg
Detroit 2 @ 2.99, 1 way, Total 5.98
Mike Green
Detroit 3 @ 5.56, 1 way, 16.68
Tyler Bozak
Florida 3 @ 5.2, 1 way, 15.6
Peter Budaj
Colorado 3 @ 0.9 50%, 1.35
Antoine Vermette
Colorado 3 @ 2.2, 50% Total 3.3
Some observations
Sekera had the most bids with 8
Budaj and Rinne had only 1 each (Rinne is a surprise)
All but two winning offer were 1 way deals. The Avs won two offers with 50% AHL rates.
Detroit got 4 free agents, though I see a lot of risk with each of them in terms of the term, particularly Green.
I really like the Budaj deal (Avs), Edler (NJ) and Sedin (Pittsburgh). The Sedin deal is probably the best. Surprised he didn’t get more interest.
These contracts will be posted later today hopefully. Batch 2 will go up tomorrow or Sunday.

Habs gave Marleau basically a 3yr RFA deal. Glad to land a 1st liner, who is signed in NHL for 3 years.
Sekera is rated as a top pairing. Happy to the have him to boost my defense.
Bring on Batch 2.

Actually I think the Ladd deal is the best.

Damn I would have had Rinne, too many GM's with cap (need goalies) so I moved my offer to Smith instead

Moshy made the deal with the Islanders to give NYI more cap and then also beat him for the top rated free agent dman.
That's savage.

I like our Sedin deal a lot. I went on the premise that the Canucks hate would limit the interest in him and it paid off. I do like that deal a lot the only deal that I think is better is the Ladd deal.
The other option I was gonna do was take a run at Budaj. I would have landed him. But needed sedin more. So I really like that deal for the Avs.
Habs getting top rated Forward and D is pretty solid.
Isles striking out should add some excitement to the next batch.

Happy to get 2 of my 4 bids. Super happy to get a solid backup for dirt cheap for the next 3 years. Vermette gives me flexibility in my middle 6.

Pretty happy to get our only target in Markov to round out our top 4 defense nicely. Likely a bit rough on he budget for next season but he willeft certainly help try and get us over the humor this year

actually surprised to get all 4 of my offers, not going to complain though. I guess after a couple of years missing out on my 1st batch offers, maybe I overcompensated a bit, but still all south of 6 mil and oldest one currently is 31.
Green is a bit risky, however if he continues down, I'll have chychrun next year signed to his ELC so together the contracts will balance out.
Lucic and perreault will be on my 1st or 2nd line and are some of my now highest OV forwards.
probably something like
perreault - koivu - marner
lucic - pageau - smith
nothing too great - however last year i missed by 4 pts so, i think i'm better than last year now.

Very happy to get Ladd on a reasonable deal. There's always one or two guys that are signed to cheap deals, I was lucky to nab Ladd. Hoping for a bounce-back season from him.
Reimer is a pricey back-up for this year, but will be a low cost starter next year when Luongo faces UFA status. Reimer at 2.75 will allow me to get a big name starter next year or save big on goaltending and spend in other areas of the lineup. After a so-so season in Florida last year he is still 1 point below Luongo in OV and even with Smith. Worth the risk.
Big misses on my other offers. Missed by more than a mill on Sekera and Smith, and my low ball offer to Pominville was too low. Considered putting an offer for Sedin instead of Pominville and probably should have as Goffie got himself a good deal.

Van had about 5 offer we sent out, only got Rinne but it was our position of greatest need. as we didn't have a starting goalie for next year yet.
On a two-year contract for Rinne hopefully allows time for one of Korpisalo or Lack time to establish themselves. The price was a bit high for Rinne (8.5) but having lots of cap space this years allows us to still have about 7m in flex space.
