Wake up was the last song they played at the end of the first movie. Maybe they are suggesting the last two movies didn't happen...I can dream right.
I kind of had the same thought, based on the line suggesting the feeling or whatever you get from all they pump into you in the matrix is the same as war (or something like that, I forget the exact line). Could be a clue that the “war” from the second and third movie was actually part of the matrix, or something?
To say the sequels weren't watchable would be an outright lie.
But I did like 2 better than 3. The in-simulation fighting does it for me more than mech squid wars.
I have said it before but upon a recent re-watch the main problem with the sequels was that they only had a loose pattern to follow.
The script was bad and the Direction of the actors was basically a crime. These were not terrible actors but you've got to give them something to work with.
Oh yeah, and the editing was brutal. This is what concerns and comforts me about this sequel. I consider the Wachowskis (I know theres only one involved in this one) to be relatively competent, but they cant seem to adapt all that well so when things go off the board they seem to go entirely off the rails.
The sequels smack to me of 'Lost' Syndrome.
What they had for a story was a hit, but then they had nothing so they just made up whatever crap they could to keep the gravy train rolling.
Now though it appears that there is a coherent plan and buy-in from the studios and the cast, and lots of time to polish and refine the story and the idea...so it should be good.

Of all the movies to break the video game curse, I would have never put the first Sonic movie on that list, especially after the first trailer. And now it looks like it has a good shot at becoming a solid franchise, Jim Carrey absolutely owns his role and Idris Elba for Knuckles is perfect. The 12 year old in me absolutely loved his reveal

Ya my 4 year old just loves Sonic. We watched that trailer together and he was going banana's. He made me rewind it a bunch of times.
I just re read my post and realized I used the term rewind, hah.. man I'm old.
Second movie looks great, the Knuckles part was awesome.

Even my kids, who have enjoyed some pretty terrible movies and are huge Harry Potter fans, thought the second movie in this series was a complete train wreck so my expectations are pretty low.

Subtract Johnny Depp and add Mads Mikkelsen and you already have a much improved movie.

I am not even really sure what these movies are about.. it's when Dumbledore was young and there's a bunch of monsters in a suitcase?
My kid is big into Harry Potter right now so I am assuming at some point we will watch these, but they aren't targeted at kids the same as HP was?

Usually I like Depp but he's been terrible in FB as Grindlewald. Now Mikkelson I can get behind. If they can provide an interesting conflict and slim it down enough it could be fun. But I had similar hopes going into the second film.
I won't watch this one if its over 2.5 hours though. The last installment's pacing DRAGGED.
