My point is, if we don't have enough to study the current strain, we won't have a accurate vaccine.

Please explain to me how those two things are linked in any way at all? Also, how is that not a 'hunch'? Sources please. Do you have a background in infectious diseases or virology? Biology? Immunology? Epidemiology? I am going to go out on a limb here and guess the answer is no. I don't understand the amount of people who think all it takes to be an expert in these topics is a little bit of google searching.

These variant strains are going to ruin everything.

It's spreading like wildfire here. Case numbers have essentially doubled. And over the long weekend we have a massive migration of mainlanders to the island.

We may enter another total shut down if this keeps up.

All of this happened from one player going to a restaurant too.

Yikes, that's pretty scary. As much as I loathe the Canucks on the ice, I wish nothing but the best for all the players and staff currently affected.

I would expect that the Canucks will be shut down instead of trying to make up the games missed.

Its not like they were in a playoff position anyways.

Hoping the best for the all of them and their families.

If so, what do you do with those games? Forfeit them all? Honestly might be a reasonable solution given how few they'd win if they tried to ice a team right now.

It does kind of bone the teams that would have played the Canucks, but I do think they should shut them down and then rely on winning percentages for the final placements in the North.

Maybe they can work it out that the teams that were scheduled to play them play each other an extra few games.

I dont think it's the extra games missing that disadvantages the teams with many remaining games against the Canucks, more the missed opportunity to score extra points against the weakest (or second depending on how you see us Lol) team in the division.

I agree.

If the Canucks just forfeited and the opponents are awarded points, it's not really fair to the teams ahead of them if it somehow affects the standings.

Plus, if we are going to miss the playoffs, I want the best draft position possible. I don't want to move down a few spots because the team was awarded points they didn't earn.

Standings would be based on point percentage.

I would like to know who actually didn't get it on the Canucks. They deserve some kind of award.

Either that, or they weren't invited to the party.

Just shut down the whole season.

The oilers don't deserve to be in the playoffs anyways simply because they won a 4th ####ing draft lottery in 6 years which just happened to be the best time to win one. Losers.

Leafs had a scare today. Nylander a close Contact for COVID. League has decided to continue with the game as the incubation time was not that long.

Something to keep an eye on
