The sad thing is the teams in the hunt aren't doing well. For all the talk of the Central fielding 5 of the playoff spots, looking at it, I think 5 from the Pacific is more likely than 5 central. Realistically it will be 4 and 4.

They had to win 8 of 10 to just get into a wild card spot. Once they level off I imagine they slip back out of that spot.

One top 4 dman in there. Good lord.

I don't think Garrison is much of a top 4 any more.

What the frick is going on with Edmonton?? Leading the Jets in the Jets barn 4-3 in the third. I figured that the Avalanche would destroy them, yet the Oil win. Then I figured that the Jets would beat them silly, but so far at least, the Oil are in the lead. Is Hitchcock really that much of a game changer for that pathetic squad?

Reminds me of the flames of last year, play terrible hockey and can hang in games with great goaltending. Teams aren't taking them seriously because well, they're the oilers. This little run of theirs will be short lived.

I guess you're right. I just figured they would be hanging out down the bottom of the Western Conference by this time of year. Even with McSniffles on the team.

They're getting an emotional bump from a new coach who just won't take their shyte. Its unsustainable, eventual their lack of talent and depth will match the result and when that negative momentum hits they'll slide down and vanish.
Remember the Flames under Greg Gilbert, started red hot, got unbelievable goaltending, but eventually their luck turned and horrible things happened.

Yes, they were 14 games above 500 or something ridiculous, and at the end of the season, they missed the playoff by a very large margin.

They had horse shoes coming out their asses tonight. Completely dominated bust still managed to get a point in OT.

I'd give Cam Talbot a call in the offseason.

Per natural stat trick, Oilers had 4 high danger scoring chances... Jets had 14. CF% @ EV was 66% Jets and 34% Oilers. Ya, Oilers definitely had that horse shoe up their asses tonight. They were absolutely dominated. Lucky to grab a point.

Oilers have now allowed 9 goals in their last 2 games. Looks like we're finally seeing the cracks in Hitch's trap game, as their horrible depth and awful roster is finally being exposed.

Hitch has put some lipstick on that swine. They skate back to apply back-pressure now. They still seem worse than “not very good though”.
