Not to defend them too much, but there's a lot of borderline non-calls that happen against McDavid. He's just so quick and skilled that it's hard not to get a hook or trip in when he's zooming past.
Much like us calling for penalties against Gaudreau, when you have these talented quick and shifty players that are hard to defend against teams are going to to need to take liberties that will sometimes go uncalled.
I would think it's easier to not take a penalty against McDavid because he skates in a straighter line. Gaudreau makes a shift and you are caught sticking your stick out.
But seriously, Gaudreau gets slashed almost every shift. When they complain about McDavid half the time it's because someone managed to control him in a one on one physical battle, like happens between players all the time.
This was the non-call they howled about: tell me from this pic what Mussin possibly did to make McDavid fall that way. I think he just fell.
Gio, you’re missing the point. A McDavid must never fall without resulting in a powerplay. In fact, any shift mcdavid does not score on, a powerplay must be awarded in honour of his fast skating and long hair.

A team trading for McDavid isn't doing a hockey trade, they are doing a franchise trade.
There would be a bidding war amongst half the league whose attendence struggles.
But if I'm Edm I move draisaital for a stud dman
Draisaital for Doughty
Except that's not even close to fair value for Doughty... If LA is trading Doughty, they should at least be looking to get someone that can drive their own line.

In any event, if someone can explain how Muzzin hooked or tripped him and he winds up in that position, I'd be grateful. If he hooked him he'd be twisted somewhat. If he tripped him McDavid would fall forward with his feet behind.
He may have used the force but that's not illegal.
That isn't close to enough. I mean, Rantanen is good and all, but 3 late 1st round picks is a lot less than it sounds. Statistically, you would only expect 1 or 2 of them to become full time NHLers, and probably only 1 impact player.
Well barring an act of God the Sens pick will not be a late first. Right now it would be 8th or so with almost no chance the pick becomes worse. For a team like the Oilers it is a trade they should look at.
Rantanen - a 30 goal, 90 + point guy
A top five pick on a cheap contract for 3 years.
Two other 1st rounders on cheap contracts for 3 years.
For a 120 point guy

Oh yeah, fair enough - I didn't notice it was the Sens. That makes it a little better. If that turns out to be a top 5, then we're getting closer.
The Oilers would have to be really dumb not to package boat anchor(Lucic) in any deal that includes McDavid. You get the best! And, uh, this thing.
What team is going to take $18.5M in contracts. I truly don’t understand weakening a players value by attaching a boat anchor. Oilers would be in rebuild 4.0 so they could ride out Looch’s deal
Besides Lucic is on that amazing line with Kassian. its only a matter of time that a guy who cant score with McDavid will start lighting it up with a fellow caveman

This is probably a good example of both the Oiler fans overreacting to non-calls, as many of them are whatever plays, but also the legitimate gripes they do have:
Take a look at the one at 16 seconds. It's almost like the refs were trying to decide if it was a penalty or penalty shot and forgot to call either.
