Individually, the Flames were led by Sam Bennett with 82%, but on only 7 minutes of ice time. Milan Lucic, Tobias Reider and TJ Brodie were in the 60s. Derek Ryan, Matthew Tkachuk and Michael Frolik finished under 40%.
So I wondered what was up with the coach and Bennett. I get the block of the game where they are on the PK so he doesn’t get minutes there. But when shortening the bench, why him? There are a few guys making 2.5-3 x Bennett’s wage that are doing less and need a message sent.

Edit: he did take that hit on the knee on the early trip - it didn’t look like it bent weirdly though - was that it?

I think they were a ‘some other time’ show

The soft schedule that the Flames have to start the season is not doing them any favors.

9 games and no pts against a team with a winning record in a league that has all the playoff teams with solid winning records due to the loser pts in OT games.

They have 3 games coming up against teams with winning records, the exhibition game in Regina against the Jets, and then 2 more against teams off to a strong start.

Next 6 games will have the Flames playing teams where the Flames will not be prohibitive favorites.... sort of like a playoff series.

It's show time and the Flames will likely do well.

The schedule tried to do them a favour, but the Flames are the guilty ones here.
