Thanks. Didn't know that about the Aquilinis.

About half of the AHL teams are independently owned, so it could be a possibility.

Travel is a huge factor in a bus league. The more time your team is spending on a bus, the less time it has for practicing.

I still can’t believe they were in Stockton to begin with. Place is a total ####hole.

Haha. Did this really happen? My wife grew up there and my mother in law still lives there. Imagine a Calgary born and raised kid hearing gunshots every night. It was wild

They own the Comets, don't they? They bought the Peoria Rivermen in 2013 and relocated them to Utica after negotiations with the City of Abbotsford fell apart because they wanted the same sweetheart deal from the City that the Heat had been given.

Wikipedia says they lease the team to Robert Esche, but they're still the owners: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Utica_Comets

A nice little benefit of Colo Springs or SLC is that they are both higher elevation than Calgary. It's not a particular advantage going from high to low, but I imagine it's tough enough for a call-up to adjust to the speed in the NHL without feeling extra gassed 20 seconds into a shift (as you might if you've spent months at sea-level and then only a day or two in Calgary before playing)

Hmm must be thinking about another team then.

Looks like they're willing to stay in Stockton if a favourable deal can be negotiated.

Standard song and dance.
