Who will be the 5 biggest flops in the NHL this year?
And why...
I’ll say Neal just because I saw no hope in him last year. 11 goals, 8 assists.
Maybe Chaisson too since he won’t get to play with McDavid as much.
Smith because his career is almost over.
Didn’t Tyler Myers get signed for way too much money? I’ll call a massive flop for him too.

Is a flop really a flop if it was expected to be a flop the whole time?

Yeah would anyone be surprised if Neal or Chaisson scored less than last year?

Come on.
Outside of Edmonton it has to be Kevin Hayes.

It would be very Rangers if Artemi Panarin flopped.

I'm going with Tkachuk if he doesn't sign asap. Missing Camp + Reg season games is going to set him back from the team by a good few weeks.

Pettersson in Van. Sophmore jinx plus his shooting percentage was starting to become normal by the end of the season.

Worse flops out there when no one even touches them.

Is Kesler even playing this year? I thought he wasn't. Or was that just the start of the season?
Edit: Nvm now I get it.

Kessel...without his buddy Malkin he could become another Pig Penner.
Panarin...he got his lotto win contract and with the bright lights of Broadway to distract his hockey is going to fall of the radar.
Tkachuk...if he holds out. Holdouts almost always suffer from the lack of preparation and pressure to produce up to increased standards due to a fat new contract.
Toronto ... Marner holds out/misses the season, Nylander doesn’t live up to his contract, the honeymoon is over for Tavares, fans turn on Matthews because he doesn’t bleed Leaf blue and the media and fans turn on Shanahan and Dubas for all of the above reasons.
Colorado...for no reason other than they always take two steps back after taking one step forward. Or maybe it’s just wishful thinking.

Yeah anyone who holds out is going to have a subpar season. I can't remember the last guy who was a notable hold out going on to have a good year. They almost always start slow, or never find their A game at all.
I'm going to say Jacob Trouba is going to be a flop in NYC. He doesn't have near the same team support to make him look good as he did in Winnipeg, and while he's a good player, he's not an amazing player. I get the sense he will be exposed a little on a bad team.

I'll admit it's entirely possible. I sure hope not. I feel like he's a natural competitor though, not unlike Luongo who hated to lose and did everything he could to help his team win. Just a hunch I get from watching him over the years.

Panarin. Every star that signs there tanks their career.
The NYI: It is not happening again.
The Colorado Avalanche: Their offense will be lethal but that defence and goaltending are going to bleed plenty of goals.
The Blue Jackets: Will be a top 5 lottery team.
Connor McDavid: Nagging knee issues and a lack of giving a damn as the season wears on him holds him below 100 points.
